Pest Control Technician

Job Purpose The Pest Control Technician is responsible for carrying out pest control services at customer locations safely, professionally, and according to company procedures. The technician must follow daily briefings, safety instructions, chemical handling procedures, and customer-service standards.
Daily Responsibilities
1. Report to Office 8:00 AM
- Report to the office every working day by 8:00 AM sharp.
- Mark attendance and be ready for the daily briefing.
- Check the assigned work schedule and customer locations.
- Ensure all required equipment, chemicals, PPE, and tools are available before leaving for the field.
1. Morning Briefing
- Attend the daily briefing conducted by the supervisor.
- Understand the day's assigned jobs, locations, and work priorities.
- Read and understand all safety instructions and precautions applicable to the day's work.
- Take note of any special instructions related to chemicals, equipment, customer premises, pets, children, food areas, electrical equipment, or other hazards.
- Clarify any doubts with the supervisor before leaving for the field.
1. Prepare for Field Work
Before leaving the office, ensure that:
- Required pest-control chemicals are available and properly labelled.
- Sprayers, bait stations, traps, machines, and other equipment are in working condition.
- Required PPE such as gloves, mask/respirator, safety shoes, goggles, and protective clothing is available and used as required.
- Customer/job details and instructions are properly understood.
- The vehicle/bike and equipment are safely arranged for transportation.
1. Travel to Customer Location
- Reach the assigned customer location on time.
- Follow the planned route and maintain professional behaviour during travel.
- Handle chemicals and equipment safely while travelling.
1. Carry Out Pest Control Work
- Inspect the site and identify pest activity and possible sources of infestation.
- Explain the treatment process to the customer when required.
- Carry out pest-control treatment according to company procedures and the instructions provided during training.
- Use only the approved chemical, quantity, equipment, and application method for the assigned treatment.
- Follow all label instructions and safety requirements.
- Protect food, utensils, electrical equipment, furniture, pets, children, and other sensitive areas as required.
- Do not mix or use chemicals in an unauthorised manner.
- Maintain cleanliness and avoid unnecessary damage to the customer's property.
- Inform the supervisor immediately if any unusual hazard, infestation, customer concern, chemical issue, or equipment problem is identified.
1. Customer Service
- Maintain polite, respectful, and professional communication with customers.
- Explain basic precautions that the customer needs to follow after treatment.
- Answer customer questions within the scope of the technician's training.
- Escalate complaints or technical issues to the supervisor.
1. Job Completion & Documentation
After completing each job:
- Confirm that the treatment has been completed properly.
- Clean and safely pack all equipment and materials.
- Complete the required service report/job sheet.
- Record chemicals and materials used, where required.
- Obtain customer confirmation/signature or digital completion acknowledgement, as applicable.
- Report any follow-up requirement to the supervisor.
1. End-of-Day Responsibilities
- Return to the office or designated location as instructed.
- Return unused chemicals, equipment, and company property safely.
- Report damaged, missing, or malfunctioning equipment.
- Submit completed job sheets/reports.
- Inform the supervisor about pending jobs, customer complaints, repeat treatments, or follow-ups.
- Maintain the vehicle, equipment, and work area in a clean and organised condition.
Safety Responsibilities
- Always follow company safety procedures and chemical labels.
- Wear the required PPE during treatment and chemical handling.
- Never eat, drink, smoke, or engage in unsafe activities while handling chemicals.
- Store and transport chemicals safely.
- Report any spill, exposure, accident, injury, or unsafe condition immediately.
- Never use a chemical or treatment method unless properly trained and authorised to do so.
Required Skills & Qualities
- Basic knowledge of pest control methods.
- Willingness to work in the field and travel to customer locations.
- Valuable communication and customer-service skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and safety procedures.
- Physically fit and comfortable working in different environments.
- Responsible, punctual, and disciplined.
- Ability to maintain accurate service records.
- Two-wheeler driving licence is preferred/required where applicable.
