We are seeking an experienced Passive Safety Engineer with 5-10 years of expertise in the design, development, validation, and testing of Seat Belts, Airbags, and Steering Wheels for automotive applications. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with safety regulations, managing component and vehicle-level validation, supporting homologation activities, and contributing to vehicle crashworthiness programs. The role requires strong knowledge of BNCAP, Global NCAP protocols, automotive safety regulations, crash testing, homologation, and COP requirements.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead design and development activities for:

- Seat Belt Systems
- Airbag Systems (Driver, Passenger, Side, Curtain, Knee Airbags)

- Steering Wheel Assemblies
- Define and manage component and system-level technical requirements.
- Coordinate with suppliers for design reviews, development, validation, and issue resolution.
- Support packaging studies and integration of passive safety systems into the vehicle.
- Develop and maintain DFMEA, DVP&R;, technical specifications, and engineering releases.
- Plan and execute component, subsystem, and vehicle-level validation activities.
- Analyse crash test results and recommend design improvements.
- Support vehicle development programs for regulatory and consumer safety compliance.
- Participate in safety target setting and vehicle crashworthiness evaluations.
- Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for validation and field issues.
- Support change management, cost optimization, and quality improvement initiatives.

Validation & Testing Responsibilities

- Define and execute validation plans for airbags, seat belts, and steering wheel systems.

- Evaluate crash pulses, dummy injury criteria, and restraint system performance.
- Coordinate testing at internal and external laboratories.
- Ensure compliance with DVP requirements and validation sign-off processes.

Required Technical Skills

- Robust understanding of occupant restraint systems.
- Experience in design/development lifecycle of passive safety components.
- Knowledge of crashworthiness and vehicle safety engineering.
- Experience in supplier management and technical reviews.
- Ability to interpret crash test data and validation reports.
- Familiarity with DFMEA, DVP&R;, APQP, PPAP and engineering change management.
- Knowledge of system integration and vehicle development processes.

Educational Qualification

- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
