Position Title: Palo Alto Firewall / Network Security Engineer

Location: India (100% Remote)

Max Pay Rate: $8-10 US Dollars Per Hour

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Palo Alto Firewall / Network Security Engineer to provide operational support, administration, troubleshooting, and security engineering for enterprise network and cloud environments.

The ideal candidate will have robust hands-on experience with Palo Alto Networks firewalls, network security, firewall policies, VPN technologies, routing, and troubleshooting. Experience supporting Palo Alto firewalls within AWS or hybrid cloud environments is highly desirable.

This is a hands-on technical role requiring experience supporting production environments, resolving complex network/security incidents, and working with infrastructure, cloud, application, and security teams.

Responsibilities

- Administer, configure, monitor, and troubleshoot Palo Alto Networks firewalls in enterprise environments.
- Configure and maintain firewall security policies, NAT policies, network objects, application controls, and security profiles.
- Review and implement firewall rule changes while following established change-management and security procedures.
- Troubleshoot network connectivity, firewall policy, routing, NAT, VPN, and application-access issues.
- Support site-to-site and remote-access VPN connectivity.
- Analyze firewall logs, traffic flows, and security events to identify and resolve network and security issues.
- Provide L2/L3 operational support and advanced troubleshooting for production firewall and network-security incidents.
- Participate in P1/P2 incident response, root-cause analysis, and remediation of critical issues.




- Support Palo Alto firewall deployments and changes within AWS, cloud, and hybrid network environments.
- Work with technologies such as AWS VPCs, Transit Gateway, VPNs, routing, security groups, and related network-security controls where applicable.
- Monitor firewall health, availability, capacity, and security posture.
- Assist with firewall upgrades, configuration changes, migrations, and security enhancements.
- Identify overly permissive, obsolete, duplicate, or unnecessary firewall rules and assist with policy cleanup and optimization.
- Coordinate with network, cloud, infrastructure, application, and cybersecurity teams to troubleshoot and resolve security and connectivity issues.
- Follow incident, problem, and change-management processes and maintain accurate technical documentation.
- Participate in continuous improvement and automation initiatives designed to improve network-security operations.

Required Qualifications

- Strong hands-on experience administering and supporting Palo Alto Networks firewalls.
- Solid understanding of firewall security policies, NAT, routing, network objects, zones, applications, and security profiles.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, routing, VPNs, network segmentation, and network-security concepts.
- Experience troubleshooting complex firewall and network-connectivity issues in production environments.




- Experience analyzing firewall logs and traffic to diagnose security and connectivity problems.
- Experience with enterprise incident, change, and problem-management processes.
- Ability to independently troubleshoot technical issues and perform root-cause analysis.
- Experience working in environments requiring coordination across multiple technical teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with Palo Alto VM-Series or Palo Alto cloud firewall technologies.
- Experience supporting Palo Alto security within AWS environments.
- Knowledge of AWS networking technologies including VPC, Transit Gateway, VPN, routing, and security groups.
- Experience with Panorama for centralized Palo Alto firewall administration and policy management.
- Familiarity with threat prevention, URL filtering, application control, vulnerability protection, and other Palo Alto security capabilities.
- Experience with network/security monitoring and vulnerability-management tools.
- Familiarity with infrastructure automation or scripting technologies such as Terraform, Ansible, or Python.
- Palo Alto Networks certifications such as PCNSA or PCNSE are desirable but not required.

Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is a hands-on network security engineer who can independently support Palo Alto firewall environments, troubleshoot complex production issues, and work effectively with cloud, network, infrastructure, and cybersecurity teams. Candidates with experience supporting Palo Alto firewalls in AWS or hybrid enterprise environments will be particularly well suited for this role.
