Role Description The Paint/Prep Artist is a full-time remote role responsible for creating clean plates, removing unwanted elements, and preparing shots for compositing in a high-end visual effects pipeline. Day-to-day tasks include digital paint work, wire and rig removal, artifact cleanup, roto-paint, and basic prep of assets to ensure shots are ready for downstream departments. The role involves working closely with compositors, supervisors, and production coordinators to interpret notes, implement feedback, and maintain consistent quality across sequences.

The Paint/Prep Artist will manage shot assignments,



track progress in production tools, and adhere to established naming conventions and workflows. This position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to work to deadlines, and transparent communication in a remote, collaborative workplace.

Qualifications

- Strong paint and digital painting skills for cleanup, restoration, and roto-paint work.
- Solid foundation in art and animation principles to support visual continuity and realism.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with supervisors, compositors, and production teams.
- Experience with industry-standard VFX software (e.g., Nuke, Photoshop, Silhouette, or similar tools).
- Ability to follow established pipelines, naming conventions, and production workflows.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail, with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Capability to work independently in a remote environment while meeting deadlines and shot quotas.
- Previous experience in a VFX studio or related post-production environment is preferred.
- Relevant education or training in visual effects, animation, fine arts, or a related discipline is beneficial.
