Role Purpose

Lead Designer Exterior Trims (Bumper System, Grill, DRL Covers, Claddings, Side Panels & Hang on Parts ) Reporting to

Body Engineering Head Responsibilities/ task Key Responsibilities of the Lead Engineer include managing and guiding the technical aspects of designing the Exterior trim of Passenger vehicles, ATV and ensuring delivery of quality, functional, and aesthetically appealing components that meet safety, regulatory, and cost requirements. Key Performance Indicators

Technical Expertise

- Exposure to global requirements for trim engineering & design. Must have handled 1-2 projects of (bumper system, Grill, Claddings, Roof Rail, Side Moldings, Hang on Parts) throughout the product lifecycle.
- Should be able to develop the Master sections, Concept design & converge them into detail engineering, ensuring that the systems meet all Manufacturing, function & safety requirements.
- Expertise in materials used for exterior trims (plastics, composites) and knowledge of manufacturing processes like injection molding, compression molding, and thermoforming.
- Should have hands on Experience on CATIA V6 & 3D Experience PLM to manage the Exterior trim product design activity
- Ensure that exterior components are properly integrated with other vehicle systems (e.g., chassis & Body structure) and that designs are compatible with the overall vehicle architecture.
- To follow defined processes & customer standards and maintain quality and delivery targets in day-to-day customer deliveries.




- Quality and manufacturing Drawing Creation considering 3-2-1 principle, car positioning & Geometrical dimensioning -Tolerance etc.
- Should be able to prepare the technical documents i.e. DFMEA, DFA, DFM, DFS, Gap & flush document
- Must be able to read the Digital simulation reports & able to provide the solution accordingly.
- Ensure that exterior components meet NVH performance targets, focusing on minimizing cabin noise and vibrations.
- Familiarity with global automotive safety and environmental regulations (FMVSS, ECE) related to exterior components
- To follow defined processes & customer standards and maintain quality and delivery targets in day-to-day customer deliveries
- Ability to analyze complex design challenges, troubleshoot issues, and develop creative solutions.
- Should able to identify opportunities for innovation in materials, design, and manufacturing processes to improve the quality, cost, and performance of exterior components

Design Leadership

- Take ownership of the complete design and development process for

Exterior components & systems, from concept till production.
- Experience leading and mentoring Team performance, providing technical

guidance and ensuring collaboration across teams.
- Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with various teams





such as product management, styling, manufacturing, and suppliers.
- Ability to understand the project plan and its milestones, set priorities

accordingly, and meet deadlines. Experience with project management tools is additionally advantageous.
- Lead the validation of Exterior components through physical testing (e.g.,

thermal, vibration, durability) and ensure that designs meet all performance and safety standards.

Project Management

- Identify potential design or engineering risks early in the project lifecycle

and develop mitigation strategies to ensure timely and successful delivery.
- Work closely with product management, styling, and manufacturing,

quality, and procurement teams to align design objectives with overall vehicle program goals.

Educational Qualification B.E.in Mechanical or Production (college of technology / university) OR Post Diploma / Diploma in Mechanical or Production or Industrial Engineering (college of technology / university)

No. of years of work experience 4 to 8 Years

Critical Skill Sets

(Technical)

- Good knowledge in CATIA V5 or V6
- Exposure to automotive engineering &detail; design
- Experience & working knowledge on PLM Tools.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Team orientation and willingness to learn current skills
- Proactive mindset with a focus on delivering solutions
