Our Coding, Robotics & AI pathway introduces students to programming through engaging, project-based learning—from visual coding with Scratch to text-based programming with Python and foundational web development.

Role Overview

We are seeking enthusiastic and student-friendly Online Coding Instructors who can teach foundational coding skills to children 8–16.

The instructor should be confident teaching Scratch, Python and basic web development using HTML and CSS . You will deliver interactive, practical lessons that help students understand programming concepts and build their own games, animations, applications and webpages.

This role is ideal for teachers, computer science graduates, IT professionals or university students who enjoy working with children and can explain technical concepts in a simple and engaging way.

Key Responsibilities

- Deliver engaging live 1-to-1 coding classes through the Smavy online platform.
- Teach Scratch programming, including sequencing, loops, events, conditionals, variables and debugging.
- Teach foundational Python, including syntax, data types, input and output, conditionals, loops, functions, lists and strings.
- Teach basic web development using HTML and CSS.
- Guide students in creating games, animations, simple Python programs and webpages.
- Adapt lessons to each student's ability, pace and interests.
- Encourage computational thinking, creativity and independent problem-solving.
- Conduct trial classes and assess each student's current coding level.
- Follow the provided curriculum while personalising activities when required.




- Assign and review suitable practice tasks and coding projects.
- Track student progress and provide constructive feedback to students and parents.
- Maintain accurate class notes, attendance and progress updates on the Smavy platform.
- Ensure classes are professional, interactive and completed as scheduled.
- Participate in instructor training, curriculum briefings and quality reviews when required.

Required Skills

- Positive knowledge of Scratch, Python, HTML and basic CSS .
- Strong understanding of foundational programming concepts.
- Ability to explain coding concepts clearly to children and beginners.
- Excellent spoken English and communication skills.
- Patient, encouraging and student-focused teaching approach.
- Ability to identify coding errors and guide students through debugging.
- Comfortable using online teaching platforms, screen sharing and digital learning tools.
- Reliable computer, stable high-speed internet connection, webcam and headset.
- Willingness to teach students across international time zones, including evenings or weekends where required.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree, diploma or current university study in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Education or a related field.
- Candidates with strong practical coding knowledge and teaching ability may also be considered.
- Previous experience teaching coding to children is preferred but not mandatory.
- Fresh graduates and final-year university students with excellent coding and communication skills are welcome to apply.

Desirable Skills Experience with any of the following would be an advantage:

- JavaScript fundamentals
- Jupyter Notebook




- Game or animation development
- Arduino or robotics
- Raspberry Pi
- Data science or artificial intelligence fundamentals
- Curriculum development or creation of coding projects for children

You should be able to turn programming concepts into practical activities, encourage students when they encounter errors and help them gain the confidence to build projects independently.
