An Occupational Therapist (OT) helps people improve their ability to perform daily activities, work, and independent living after an illness, injury, disability, or developmental issue.
Main work of an Occupational Therapist:
- Assess patients' physical, mental, and functional abilities.
- Help patients improve movement, coordination, balance, and strength.
- Train patients in daily activities like eating, dressing, bathing, writing, and working.
- Provide therapy for patients recovering from stroke, injury, surgery, neurological conditions, or disabilities.
- Work with children who have developmental or sensory difficulties.
- Recommend and train patients to use assistive devices when required.
- Prepare individual treatment/rehabilitation plans.
- Monitor and document patient progress.
- Coordinate with doctors, physiotherapists, psychologists, and other healthcare professionals.
