SAP ABAP Technical Lead

Location: Pan India

Experience:10+ Years

Relevant Experience

Minimum 10+ years of hands-on SAP ABAP development experience, with strong expertise in technical leadership, SAP HANA optimization, integration, performance tuning, architecture, and cross-functional technical coordination.

REQUIREMENT FOR SAP ABAP TECHNICAL LEAD

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

- Lead end-to-end technical design, development, and delivery of SAP solutions.
- Own technical workstreams and drive delivery independently.
- Mentor junior developers and conduct technical/code reviews.
- Translate business requirements into scalable and maintainable SAP technical solutions.
- Identify technical risks and proactively recommend mitigation strategies.
- Act as the primary technical point of contact for the project.

SAP Development

- Perform expert-level ABAP development using Object-Oriented ABAP.
- Develop and enhance CDS Views and AMDP solutions.
- Work with BAdIs, User Exits, and Implicit/Explicit Enhancements.
- Develop Reports, Interfaces, Forms, Dialog Programs, and Workflow enhancements.
- Develop and support RFC/BAPI-based integrations.
- Develop Fiori OData services using SAP Gateway.
- Work with Adobe Forms, SmartForms, and SAPScript.
- Apply contemporary SAP development practices and standards.
- Strong understanding of RAP programming model is preferred.

Performance Optimization & Debugging

- Perform advanced ABAP debugging and performance analysis.
- Use tools such as SAT, ST05, SQL Monitor, and other SAP performance tools.
- Analyze memory consumption, update tasks, background jobs, locks, and runtime issues.
- Perform performance tuning of custom ABAP programs.
- Analyze database performance and recommend appropriate optimizations/indexes.
- Identify bottlenecks across application and database layers.
- Work closely with SAP Basis teams to resolve:
- Long-running jobs
- Memory issues
- ABAP dumps
- Gateway issues
- RFC failures
- Transport issues
- HANA performance problems

Cross-Functional Coordination

- Coordinate with:
- SAP Basis
- SAP Security
- Functional Consultants
- SAP Integration Teams
- Middleware Teams
- Infrastructure Teams
- SAP RISE Operations
- SAP Support Teams
- Communicate technical dependencies and infrastructure requirements.




- Define and coordinate transport strategies.
- Provide performance recommendations and system readiness inputs.
- Coordinate technical activities across multiple teams.

Architecture & Solution Design

- Prepare technical architecture and solution design documents.
- Create sequence diagrams and data flow diagrams.
- Design interface architecture and integration flows.
- Prepare detailed technical specifications.
- Develop technical implementation roadmaps.
- Participate in solution architecture and technical design discussions.
- Drive technical decisions based on scalability, performance, maintainability, and SAP best practices.

Integration Experience

- Work with IDocs, RFC, BAPI, OData, REST APIs, and SOAP services.
- Experience with SAP Integration Suite.
- Support event-based and file-based integrations.
- Work with SAP Gateway and integration interfaces.
- Knowledge of SAP TM integrations is highly desirable.

Documentation & Presentations

- Prepare executive-quality technical presentations and documentation.
- Create:
- Technical Design Presentations
- Solution Architecture Decks
- Technical Decision Documents
- Performance Analysis Reports
- Root Cause Analysis Documents
- Executive Status Updates
- Present technical topics confidently to technical teams, architects, project leadership, and client stakeholders.

Project Leadership

- Own technical workstreams and technical planning.
- Estimate development effort and track technical progress.
- Review code quality and development standards.
- Coordinate offshore development teams.
- Identify technical risks and dependencies at an early stage.
- Recommend technical improvements and ensure delivery quality.
- Act as the technical escalation point for project-related issues.

- Candidates with 10+ years of SAP ABAP development experience.
- Strong expertise in Object-Oriented ABAP.
- Hands-on experience with SAP HANA optimization, CDS Views, and AMDP.

Education Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
