Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced NDT Level III Technician to lead and supervise Non-Destructive Testing activities for shipbuilding, ship repair, fabrication, piping, structural and marine engineering projects. The candidate will be responsible for developing and approving NDT procedures, ensuring compliance with applicable standards, reviewing test results and providing technical guidance to NDT personnel.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop, review and approve NDT procedures, techniques and work instructions.

- Provide technical supervision for UT, RT, MT, PT, VT and other applicable NDT methods.

- Interpret NDT codes, standards, specifications and client requirements.

- Review and approve NDT reports, test results and inspection documentation.

- Ensure NDT activities comply with applicable class, statutory, client and project requirements.

- Provide technical guidance to Level I and Level II NDT technicians.

- Review and validate NDT personnel qualifications, certifications and competency.

- Coordinate NDT activities with QA/QC, Production, Planning, Project and Welding teams.

- Support inspection activities for hull structures, weld joints, piping, pressure vessels, machinery and marine equipment.

- Evaluate weld discontinuities and assist Welding/QC teams in determining acceptance or rejection as per applicable standards.

- Review radiographs, ultrasonic indications and other NDT results where authorized.

- Prepare and maintain NDT procedures, reports, records, calibration certificates and personnel qualification documents.





- Coordinate with Class Surveyors, Client Inspectors and Third-Party Inspection Agencies during NDT activities.

- Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of NDT equipment.

- Investigate recurring defects and support Root Cause Analysis and corrective actions.

- Monitor NDT subcontractors and verify compliance with approved procedures and project requirements.

- Participate in inspection planning, quality meetings and project review meetings.

- Ensure proper control and traceability of NDT records and reports.

- Promote safe working practices during NDT operations, particularly during radiography and confined-space inspections.

Technical Competencies The candidate should have strong knowledge of:

- Ultrasonic Testing (UT)

- Radiographic Testing (RT)

- Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)

- Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT)

- Visual Testing (VT)

- Weld inspection and weld discontinuity evaluation

- NDT procedure preparation and approval

- NDT report interpretation and review

- Welding technology and fabrication processes

- Shipbuilding and ship-repair inspection practices

- Applicable ASME, ASTM, AWS, ISO and Class requirements

- NDT acceptance criteria and inspection standards





- Calibration and verification of NDT equipment

- NDT documentation and quality records

Qualification & Certification

- Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical / Metallurgy / Production / Marine Engineering or equivalent.

- NDT Level III certification in relevant methods from a recognized certification scheme.

- ASNT / PCN / ISO 9712 or equivalent certification will be preferred.

- Valid certification in relevant NDT methods is required.

- Knowledge of ship classification requirements such as IRS, DNV, ABS, LR, BV or equivalent will be an advantage.

Experience

- 8–15+ years of relevant NDT experience, preferably in:

- Shipbuilding

- Ship repair

- Marine engineering

- Heavy fabrication

- Pressure vessels

- Offshore / structural fabrication

- Previous experience in NDT Level III responsibilities and procedure approval is highly desirable.

- Experience dealing with Class Surveyors and client inspection teams will be an advantage.

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹45,000.00 per month
