MYP & DP English Teacher

Location: Bloomingdale International School, Penamaluru, Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh

Curriculum: IB – Middle Years Programme (MYP) & Diploma Programme (DP)

Employment Type: Full-time | In-person

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Curriculum

- Plan and deliver engaging and rigorous English lessons aligned with IB MYP and DP objectives.
- Develop unit plans, lesson plans, learning activities, and assessment tasks aligned with curriculum requirements.
- Teach English Language & Literature concepts through inquiry, discussion, analysis, research, and creative expression.
- Develop students’ reading, writing, speaking, listening, analytical, and critical-thinking skills.
- Use literature, media, contemporary texts, and real-world contexts to make learning meaningful.
- Apply differentiated teaching strategies to support students with diverse learning needs.
- Assess student work using appropriate MYP/DP assessment criteria and provide constructive feedback.
- Maintain accurate records of formative and summative assessments and monitor student progress.
- Support students in developing reflection, research, communication, and independent-learning skills.

Student Support & IB Responsibilities

- Support MYP students with relevant projects and inquiry-based learning experiences.
- Guide and mentor DP students with relevant assessment requirements and Extended Essay supervision, where applicable.
- Support students in developing effective research, referencing, academic writing, and presentation skills.
- Encourage the development of ATL skills and IB Learner Profile attributes.
- Provide additional academic support and remediation where required.

Collaboration & Communication

- Participate in team-oriented planning and interdisciplinary learning initiatives.
- Communicate regularly with parents, counselors,



coordinators, and colleagues regarding student progress.
- Participate in parent-teacher meetings, assemblies, open houses, and other school events.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop innovative learning experiences and academic initiatives.

Professional & Administrative Responsibilities

- Participate actively in IB professional development and training opportunities.
- Stay updated with IB curriculum documentation, assessment practices, and educational developments.
- Maintain professional standards in communication, conduct, and interaction with students and colleagues.
- Complete grades, reports, comments, and academic documentation within required timelines.
- Use educational technology and school platforms effectively for teaching, assessment, communication, and record keeping.
- Participate in clubs, school teams, duty supervision, cultural activities, and other co-curricular programmes.
- Provide student recommendations and references when required.

What We’re Looking For

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in English, English Literature, English Language, Education, or a related field.
- B.Ed. or equivalent teaching qualification preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant teaching experience, preferably in an IB school.
- Strong knowledge of English Language & Literature and effective teaching methodologies.
- Understanding of IB MYP/DP curriculum, assessment, and inquiry-based learning preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.




- Strong classroom management and student engagement skills.
- Ability to use technology effectively to support teaching and learning.
- Collaborative, reflective, and student-focused approach.

IB Experience & Curriculum

Experience with IB MYP and/or DP English is preferred.

IB training/certification in MYP/DP English will be an added advantage.

Candidates with strong English teaching experience from Cambridge, IGCSE, CBSE, ICSE, or other recognized curricula may also be considered, particularly those with strong subject expertise and an interest in transitioning to the IB framework.
