Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled Motor Vehicle Technician to inspect, maintain, troubleshoot and repair company vehicles and light/heavy commercial vehicles. The technician will ensure the availability, safety and roadworthiness of vehicles used for shipyard operations, employee transportation, material movement and other company requirements.

Key Responsibilities

- Carry out periodic servicing, preventive maintenance and breakdown repairs of company vehicles.

- Diagnose and repair engine, transmission, clutch, brake, steering and suspension systems.

- Inspect vehicles and identify mechanical, electrical and electronic faults.

- Perform troubleshooting using appropriate diagnostic tools and equipment.

- Conduct routine checks of engine oil, coolant, brake fluid, battery, tyres and other consumables.

- Repair and maintain diesel and petrol engines.

- Handle repairs related to:

- Engine and fuel systems

- Clutch and gearbox

- Brake systems

- Steering and suspension

- Differential and axle

- Cooling system

- Electrical and starting/charging systems

- AC and basic HVAC systems

- Attend emergency vehicle breakdowns and carry out necessary corrective repairs.

- Conduct pre-start and safety inspections before vehicles are deployed.

- Maintain vehicle service schedules and ensure preventive maintenance is completed on time.

- Identify spare-parts requirements and coordinate with the Maintenance / Stores team.

- Maintain accurate records of repairs, servicing, parts replaced and vehicle history.

- Coordinate with external workshops when specialized repairs are required.





- Inspect completed repair work and ensure vehicles are safe before release.

- Monitor tyre condition, battery condition and other critical vehicle components.

- Ensure compliance with company safety procedures and applicable vehicle regulations.

- Maintain proper housekeeping and safe working practices in the vehicle maintenance area.

Technical Skills

- Solid knowledge of automobile mechanical systems.

- Good troubleshooting and fault-diagnosis skills.

- Knowledge of diesel and petrol engines.

- Knowledge of automotive electrical systems.

- Ability to read basic vehicle wiring diagrams.

- Familiarity with computerized vehicle diagnostic systems is preferred.

- Knowledge of preventive and breakdown maintenance.

- Ability to use automotive tools, lifting equipment and diagnostic equipment safely.

Qualification

- ITI / Diploma in Automobile Engineering / Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

- ITI certification in Motor Vehicle / Automobile Mechanic will be preferred.

- Valid driving licence for the applicable vehicle category will be an advantage.

Experience

- 3–8 years of experience as a Motor Vehicle Technician / Automobile Technician / Vehicle Mechanic.

- Experience in maintaining company fleets, commercial vehicles, buses, trucks, cars and utility vehicles will be preferred.

- Experience in a shipyard, industrial facility, construction company or heavy engineering environment will be an advantage.

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
