JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a hands-on Migration Engineer specializing in content, file, and mailbox migration to join our growing team. This role is focused on executing migration projects under the guidance of a Senior Migration

Specialist and is ideal for someone with direct experience delivering SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, file share,

and mailbox migrations.

This is a delivery-focused migration role, not a general Microsoft 365 support or administration position. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working from defined runbooks and checklists, executing migration activities across project phases, troubleshooting migration issues, and maintaining accurate project documentation.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Execute SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams content migration projects.

Manage Teams dependencies on underlying SharePoint document libraries and Exchange during migrations.

Perform permission, access, and metadata mapping between source and target environments.

Execute on-premises file share migrations to OneDrive, SharePoint, or equivalent cloud storage destinations.

Map and remediate NTFS permissions and ACLs to cloud storage permission models.

Execute Exchange on-premises to Microsoft 365, tenant-to-tenant, and Google Workspace to Microsoft

365 mailbox migrations.

Perform manual and tool-driven migration activities, including cutover, staged, and hybrid migrations.

Troubleshoot mail flow, DNS, authentication, Outlook, mobile, and other client-side migration issues.

Follow structured runbooks across discovery, mapping, execution, validation, and handoff phases.

Validate migrated content, permissions, mailboxes, and user access against defined project requirements.

Create and maintain migration documentation, handoff documents, and pre- and post-migration reports.





Identify migration risks and exceptions and escalate technical blockers to the Senior Migration Specialist promptly.

Support remediation activities following migration validation and user acceptance.

Maintain accurate project records and ensure migration activities are completed according to established processes and timelines.

ELIGIBILITY

Bachelor s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred.

6-10 years of total IT experience, with direct hands-on experience in migration projects.

2-4 years of hands-on experience executing SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, file share, and/or mailbox migration projects.

Experience working in structured migration projects with defined execution plans, runbooks, and validation procedures.

Experience working in an MSP, consulting, or project-based IT environment is preferred.

REQUIRED SKILL SET

Practical experience with at least one content/collaboration migration tool such as ShareGate, SharePoint Migration Tool, Migration Manager, or equivalent.

Practical experience with at least one mailbox/tenant migration tool such as BitTitan MigrationWiz, Quest On Demand Migration, or equivalent.

Hands-on experience migrating Windows file shares, including permission mapping and folder remediation.

Working knowledge of NTFS permissions, ACLs, and cloud-based permission models.

Experience with Exchange migration scenarios, including on-premises to Microsoft 365 and tenant-to-tenant migrations.

Understanding of migration approaches including cutover, staged, and hybrid migrations.

Working knowledge of DNS, mail flow, authentication, Outlook, and mobile troubleshooting.

Understanding of migration project phases including discovery, mapping, execution, validation, and handoff.

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Solid documentation and reporting skills.

Ability to follow defined processes while identifying and escalating exceptions appropriately.
