- We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Modernization Lead with strong expertise in Micro Focus Enterprise Suite (now Rocket Software) technologies to lead and deliver large-scale mainframe transformation programs.
- The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of mainframe modernization strategies, application rehosting, replatforming, and migration to distributed or cloud environments.
- The role involves assessing legacy applications, defining modernization roadmaps, executing migration projects, and collaborating with business and technical stakeholders to ensure successful transformation outcomes.

Essential Job Functions:

- Lead end-to-end mainframe modernization initiatives using Micro Focus/Rocket Software solutions.
- Perform application portfolio assessments and modernization feasibility analysis.
- Design and implement modernization strategies including:
- Rehosting
- Replatforming
- Refactoring
- Application Transformation

- Analyze and migrate COBOL, PL/I, JCL, CICS, IMS, DB2, and VSAM-based applications.
- Configure and implement Micro Focus Enterprise Server and Enterprise Developer environments.
- Support migration of mainframe workloads to Linux, Windows, AWS, or hybrid cloud environments.
- Develop migration plans, cutover strategies, testing approaches, and rollback procedures.
- Collaborate with architecture, infrastructure, DevOps, and application teams.
- Conduct code remediation, modernization, and performance optimization activities.
- Lead proof-of-concepts (POCs) and modernization assessments.
- Prepare technical documentation, architecture diagrams, governance artifacts, and solution blueprints.
- Mentor development teams and provide technical leadership throughout project execution.

- COBOL / Visual COBOL.
- JCL.
- CICS.
- DB2 / IMS DB.
- VSAM.
- REXX (Good to Have).
- TSO/ISPF.

Modernization Experience
- Mainframe Rehosting and Replatforming.
- Legacy Application Assessment.
- Code Conversion and Remediation.
- Data Migration Strategies.
- DevOps Modernization.
- API Enablement for Mainframe Applications.
- Application Decomposition and Transformation.

Cloud & Platform Skills
- AWS.
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

Databases
- DB2 LUW (Valuable to Have).
- SQL Server.
- PostgreSQL.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum 8+ years of IT experience.
- Hands-on experience with mainframe technologies and modernization projects.
- Proven experience implementing Micro Focus/Rocket Software modernization solutions.
- Strong understanding of enterprise architecture and application migration patterns.
- Experience working in Agile delivery environments.
- Strong client-facing and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Microsoft Azure or AWS Mainframe Modernization programs.
- Experience migrating large-scale banking, insurance, telecom, or retail applications.
- Knowledge of cloud-native architectures and microservices.
- TOGAF, Azure, AWS, or Micro Focus certifications.
- Experience with API-led integration and modernization frameworks.
