Medical Records Department, Caithness General Hospital

Band 2

22.25 hours worked over a four week rolling rota including one weekend every four weeks.

We are looking for a motivated and reliable Telephonist/Receptionist to join our dedicated team at Caithness General Hospital.

This is a varied and rewarding role at the heart of the hospital, providing a vital link between patients, visitors, healthcare professionals, and emergency services.

Responsibilities

As one of the first points of contact for the hospital, you will play a key role in ensuring effective communication across a busy healthcare environment.

Your responsibilities will include

- Managing all telephone calls and enquiries professionally and efficiently
- Providing a welcoming and helpful reception service
- Monitoring alarm and emergency systems and initiating appropriate responses in line with established procedures
- Coordinating the Out of Hours GP service
- Contacting on-call staff and supporting emergency communications when required
- Maintaining accurate records and providing administrative support to the wider service

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a rapid-paced environment where no two days are the same. You will need excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during urgent or unexpected situations.

There will be a requirement to work additional hours on a regular basis to support colleagues and maintain service delivery.

In return, you'll be joining a welcoming team and playing a crucial role in supporting patient care and the safe running of hospital services across Caithness.
