Mechatronics / Robotics Engineer

Employment Type: Full-Time

Location: Chennai, Tamil Nadu

Qualification

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE), Robotics, Embedded Systems, or a related field.

Job Role

As a Mechatronics / Embedded Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and integrating robotic control systems that combine software, electronics, and embedded hardware. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to build autonomous robotic platforms using ROS (Robot Operating System), embedded controllers, sensors, actuators, and communication interfaces.

Eligibility Criteria

 Strong programming skills in C++ and Python.

 Hands-on experience with ROS/ROS2 development.

 Good understanding of robotic kinematics, motion control, and navigation concepts.

 Knowledge of autonomous robot software stacks including localization, mapping (SLAM), path planning, and obstacle avoidance.

 Experience interfacing with sensors such as LiDAR, IMU, GPS, cameras, ultrasonic sensors, and encoders.

 Strong understanding of embedded systems and microcontrollers (STM32, ESP32, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, etc.).

 Knowledge of communication protocols such as UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, Ethernet, and Modbus.

 Familiarity with motor control, PID control, actuators, and power electronics.

 Basic understanding of PCB design, circuit debugging, and electronic system integration.

 Experience with Linux development environments and Git version control.

 Strong analytical, debugging,



and problem-solving skills.

 Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a multidisciplinary engineering team.

Key Responsibilities

 Design, develop, and implement robotic control software using ROS/ROS2.

 Develop and optimize autonomous navigation and control algorithms for mobile robotic platforms.

 Integrate sensors, actuators, embedded controllers, and peripheral devices into robotic systems.

 Develop embedded firmware for microcontrollers and embedded computing platforms.

 Implement and optimize communication between embedded hardware and higher-level robotic software.

 Work on localization, mapping (SLAM), path planning, motion planning, and robot perception.

 Design and implement robot control architectures for autonomous operation.

 Perform hardware bring-up, system integration, testing, and debugging.

 Collaborate with mechanical, electronics, and software teams to develop reliable robotic solutions.

 Evaluate and integrate new sensors, controllers, and embedded technologies.

 Optimize software performance for real-time robotic applications.

 Conduct system validation, troubleshooting, and field testing.





 Prepare technical documentation, design reports, and test procedures.

Preferred Skills

 Experience with autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), AGVs, or robotic manipulators.

 Knowledge of computer vision using OpenCV or similar libraries.

 Experience with simulation tools such as Gazebo, RViz, or Isaac Sim.

 Familiarity with AI/ML techniques for robotics applications is an added advantage.

 Exposure to industrial automation systems and PLCs is desirable.

 Understanding of robotics middleware, embedded Linux, and real-time operating systems (RTOS).

 Familiarity with CI/CD workflows, Docker, and software deployment pipelines.
