About the Business:

Tata Electronics Private Limited (TEPL) is a greenfield venture of the Tata Group with expertise in manufacturing precision components.

Tata Electronics (a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Sons Pvt. Ltd.) is building India’s first AI-enabled state-of-the-art Semiconductor Foundry. This facility will produce chips for applications such as power management ICs, display drivers, microcontrollers (MCUs), and high-performance computing logic, addressing the growing demand across automotive, computing and data storage, wireless communications, and artificial intelligence markets.

Space

Responsibilities:

RFQ Review & Technical Assessment

- Review RFQs, drawings, specifications, BOMs, data packages, and customer standards to identify gaps and develop structured clarification lists.
- Evaluate manufacturability, tooling requirements, design risks, and technical feasibility of proposed solutions.

Tooling & Mould Strategy Development

- Own tooling and mould strategy for injection-moulded, sheet-metal, and machined components.
- Perform DFM/DFx assessments, including draft angle, wall thickness, gate and runner design reviews.
- Define tool classifications, cavitation strategy, sampling plans (T0-T2), tooling capability requirements, and validation criteria.

Costing, Capacity & Lead-Time Planning

- Develop tooling cost estimates, NRE requirements, lead-time plans, resource loading, cycle-time assessments, and implementation milestones.
- Support CapEx planning, tooling investment decisions,



and business case evaluations.

Design Assurance & Risk Management

- Lead design reviews and technical assessments to identify risks associated with manufacturability, tolerances, product performance, and production readiness.
- Develop validation plans and provide evidence-based recommendations to support proposal decisions.

Technical Proposal & Supplier Support

- Prepare auditable calculations and technical evidence for compliance matrices, proposal narratives, costing models, and management approval packs.
- Support supplier technical evaluations, tooling quotations, make-versus-buy decisions, and tooling capability assessments.

NPI & Manufacturing Readiness

- Collaborate with Product Engineering, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing teams to ensure successful design transfer into NPI and volume production.
- Define acceptance criteria, validation approaches, and key deliverables required for project execution.

Governance & Continuous Improvement

- Maintain controlled templates, lessons learned, tooling databases, and reusable estimation data for future bids.
- Ensure compliance with Tata Electronics information security, confidentiality, quality, and document control requirements.

Essential Attributes:

1. Robust expertise in tooling and mould development for injection moulding, sheet metal, and machined components.
2.



Hands-on experience with DFM/DFx methodologies, tolerance analysis, and manufacturing risk assessments.
3. Knowledge of tool classification, cavitation strategies, T0-T2 sampling processes, and tooling validation requirements.
4. Experience in product lifecycle management, engineering change control, configuration management, and release governance.
5. Proven experience supporting customer RFQs, technical proposals, NPI programs, or manufacturing industrialization projects within EMS or complex manufacturing environments.
6. Strong understanding of tooling cost estimation, lead-time planning, capability assessment, and supplier technical reviews.
7. Ability to identify technical risks, develop validation plans, and provide data-driven recommendations.
8. Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
9. Ability to work effectively with global customers and suppliers across multiple time zones.
10. Willingness to travel for customer workshops, supplier reviews, tooling trials, and program reviews.

Qualifications:

- B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, ECE, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, Production Engineering, or another discipline relevant to the role.
- Postgraduate specialization in Product Engineering, Tool Design, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related disciplines is preferred.

Desired Experience Level:

- 8-12 years of experience in Tooling Engineering, Product Engineering, Manufacturing Industrialization, NPI, Design for Manufacturing (DFM), or related functions within EMS, Electronics Manufacturing, Automotive, Semiconductor, or other complex manufacturing environments.
