About the Role
AD Engineers is a 35-year-old centrifuge manufacturing company serving the chemical process industry, currently expanding operations including new product lines and international partnerships. We're looking for a hands-on Mechanical Engineer who can split time between the shop floor (overseeing production/manufacturing activities) and the design desk (CAD/3D modeling for current equipment and custom orders).
This is a dual-scope role — not a pure design job and not a pure production-supervisor job — suited to someone who wants ownership over both how a centrifuge is designed and how it's actually built.
Responsibilities
Production Oversight (~50%)
- Supervise day-to-day manufacturing/fabrication activities on the shop floor
- Ensure production schedules, quality standards, and safety protocols are followed
- Coordinate with machine operators, welders, and fabrication staff
- Troubleshoot production issues and drive process improvements
- Maintain production documentation and quality inspection records
CAD/3D Design (~50%)
- Create and revise 2D/3D CAD drawings for centrifuge components and assemblies
- Support custom equipment design based on client specifications
- Prepare fabrication-ready drawings (GD&T;, tolerances, BOMs) for the shop floor
- Collaborate with production team to resolve design-to-manufacturing gaps
- Maintain drawing revision control and technical documentation
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
- Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar — please specify preferred tool)
- 2–5 years of experience in a manufacturing/fabrication environment (industrial equipment, process equipment, or heavy machinery preferred)
- Working knowledge of sheet metal, machining, and welding processes
- Comfortable splitting time between shop floor supervision and design desk work
- Prior experience with centrifuges, pumps, pressure vessels, or similar rotating/process equipment is a strong plus
- Strong communication skills to liaise between design intent and shop floor execution
