Role Description The Marine Mechanical HOD / Manager is a full time, on-site role based at the Lavgan shipyard in Ratnagiri. This role leads the marine mechanical department, overseeing planning, execution, and quality control for mechanical work on commercial and defence vessels and rigs.

Day-to-day responsibilities include managing maintenance, repair, and refit activities for propulsion systems, auxiliary machinery, hydraulic systems, and other mechanical equipment. The role involves coordinating with project teams, naval architects, class societies, and client representatives to meet technical specifications, timelines, and safety standards.

The Marine

Mechanical HOD / Manager will supervise and mentor departmental staff,



ensure compliance with regulatory and classification requirements, optimize resource utilization, and support continuous improvement in processes and performance.

Qualifications

- Strong understanding of Marine Operations, including shipyard workflows, dry docking, refit, and mechanical repair activities.
- Experience working with Navy and defence-related projects, preferably including Indian Navy or Indian Coast Guard vessels.
- Practical knowledge of Boat and Maritime systems, such as propulsion, auxiliary machinery, and onboard mechanical equipment.
- Ability to design and deliver Training programs for mechanical teams, focusing on safety, technical skills, and process adherence.
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline; higher certifications or Class/IMO-related credentials are an advantage.
- Proven experience in a senior mechanical role within a shipyard, offshore, or marine engineering environment, with team leadership responsibilities.
- Familiarity with classification society rules, statutory regulations, and quality management systems relevant to ship repair and refit.
- Strong planning, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills for coordinating with internal teams, clients, and external authorities.
