Store Manager

Position: Store Manager

Industry: Steel Pipe Manufacturing

Location: Malur

Reporting To: Plant Head

Experience: 810 years in stores, warehouse, or inventory management, preferably in steel/manufacturing.

Job Purpose To manage the complete stores and warehouse operations of the steel pipe manufacturing plant, ensuring timely availability of raw materials, consumables, spare parts, packing materials, and finished goods while maintaining accurate inventory, proper documentation, safety, and efficient material flow.

Key Responsibilities

1. Stores & Warehouse Management

- Manage day-to-day operations of raw material, consumable, spare parts, packing material, and finished-goods stores.
- Ensure proper receipt, inspection, identification, storage, preservation, and issue of materials.
- Maintain appropriate storage locations and ensure systematic material stacking and handling.
- Implement FIFO/FEFO wherever applicable.
- Ensure proper segregation and identification of materials, including rejected, obsolete, slow-moving, and non-moving stock.

2. Inventory Control

- Maintain accurate physical and system inventory records.
- Monitor minimum, maximum, and reorder levels for critical materials.
- Conduct periodic cycle counts and monthly/quarterly physical stock verification.
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies.
- Control excess, obsolete, and slow-moving inventory.
- Prepare inventory reports and provide inputs for material planning and procurement.

3. Raw Material & Production Support

- Coordinate with Production, PPC, Purchase, Quality,



and Maintenance departments for uninterrupted material availability.
- Ensure timely issue of steel coils/strips, welding consumables, electrodes, gases, lubricants, chemicals, tools, and other production materials.
- Maintain proper traceability of critical raw materials and batch/heat numbers wherever required.
- Ensure materials are issued against authorized requisitions/production requirements.

4. Receipt & Dispatch

- Verify incoming materials against purchase orders, delivery challans, and supporting documents.
- Coordinate with Quality/Inspection for incoming material inspection.
- Ensure proper GRN/MRN preparation and system entry.
- Manage dispatch of finished pipes and other materials as per approved documents.
- Ensure correct quantity, identification, packing, loading, and documentation during dispatch.

5. SAP & Documentation

- Maintain accurate transactions in SAP or other applicable systems.
- Ensure timely posting of receipts, issues, transfers, returns, and stock adjustments.
- Maintain all stores-related records, registers, material issue slips, gate passes, and documentation.
- Generate MIS reports relating to inventory, consumption, stock aging, discrepancies,



and material movement.

6. Cost & Process Improvement

- Identify opportunities to reduce inventory carrying costs and material losses.
- Improve warehouse utilization and material-handling efficiency.
- Develop and implement SOPs for receiving, storage, issue, transfer, and dispatch.
- Support internal, financial, and statutory audits.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions for audit observations and inventory discrepancies.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations, or a related field.
- Diploma/Degree in Mechanical/Production/Industrial Engineering can be an advantage.
- Robust working knowledge of ERP/SAP and MS Excel.
- Knowledge of inventory control, warehouse management, material handling, and documentation.

Desired Experience Experience in a steel, pipe, tube, fabrication, engineering, automotive, or heavy manufacturing plant is preferred.
