Manager – Payroll & Labour Law Compliance
Location: Pune | Work Mode: On-site | Experience: 5+ Years
CTC: ₹6–7 LPA
About the Role
We are looking for a Payroll & Labour Law Compliance Specialist with strong expertise in end-to-end payroll processing and labour law compliance. The ideal candidate should be capable of independently managing compliance operations, leading a team, and interacting confidently with clients and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
1. End-to-End Payroll Management
- Manage the complete monthly payroll cycle, including payroll processing, salary computation, and disbursement coordination.
- Ensure accurate computation of salaries, deductions, reimbursements, and statutory contributions.
- Manage payroll-related reconciliations, reports, and employee queries.
- Ensure compliance with applicable payroll-related statutory requirements.
2. Labour Law Compliance
- Manage end-to-end compliance under applicable labour laws, including:
- Provident Fund (EPF)
- Employees' State Insurance (ESI)
- Professional Tax (PT)
- Labour Welfare Fund (LWF)
- Payment of Gratuity Act
- Payment of Bonus Act
- Minimum Wages and Wage Code requirements
- Shops and Establishments Acts
- Maternity Benefit Act
- Contract Labour (Regulation & Abolition) Act
- POSH Act
- Ensure timely statutory registrations, returns, payments, renewals, and record maintenance.
- Monitor changes in labour legislation and advise clients/management on compliance requirements.
- Handle labour law audits, inspections, notices, and related documentation.
- Develop and maintain compliance checklists and ensure timely closure of compliance gaps.
3. Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team handling payroll and labour law compliance.
- Allocate work, monitor deliverables, and ensure accuracy and timely completion.
- Review team performance and provide training on statutory and operational requirements.
4. Client & Stakeholder Management
- Act as a point of contact for clients on payroll and labour law matters.
- Communicate effectively with clients, employees, auditors, and government authorities.
- Prepare compliance reports and provide practical guidance on statutory requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
- Essential: Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB), preferably with specialisation in Labour Laws / Industrial Relations.
- A Master's degree in Labour Laws (LLM), Labour Welfare, Human Resources, or Industrial Relations will be an advantage.
- Additional qualifications such as PG Diploma in Labour Laws, Labour Welfare, or Industrial Relations will be preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in payroll management and end-to-end labour law compliance.
- Strong practical knowledge of Indian labour legislation and applicable state-specific regulations.
- Experience in managing and leading a team is essential.
Required Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong knowledge of payroll and statutory compliance processes.
- Ability to independently manage multiple clients and deadlines.
- Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and payroll software/HRMS.
- Ability to interpret legislation and translate requirements into practical compliance processes.
