Manager – Hostel Hospitality & Housekeeping(Residential)

Position Overview The General Manager – Hostel Hospitality & Housekeeping will be responsible for the overall housekeeping, hygiene, hospitality, cleanliness, and service standards across all University hostels.

The role will ensure that students are provided with a clean, hygienic, safe, well-maintained, and professionally managed residential environment. The position will lead housekeeping teams, supervisors, vendors, linen and consumable operations, and coordinate closely with hostel administration, wardens, security, maintenance, mess, and student affairs teams.

Key Responsibilities

1. Hostel Housekeeping Operations

- Manage end-to-end housekeeping operations across all University hostels.
- Establish and implement standardized housekeeping SOPs and service standards.
- Ensure daily cleanliness of:
- Student rooms
- Corridors
- Staircases
- Washrooms
- Common areas
- Study areas
- Recreation areas
- Dining/mess surroundings
- Hostel offices
- Visitor areas
- Establish daily, weekly, monthly, and deep-cleaning schedules.
- Conduct regular inspections and ensure timely corrective action.

2. Hygiene & Sanitation

- Maintain high standards of hygiene and sanitation throughout hostel premises.
- Ensure regular cleaning and sanitization of washrooms and common areas.




- Monitor pest-control activities and preventive measures.
- Ensure proper garbage collection, segregation, disposal, and housekeeping practices.
- Ensure protected handling, storage, and usage of cleaning chemicals.

3. Housekeeping Manpower Management

- Lead and supervise housekeeping supervisors, cleaners, attendants, and outsourced housekeeping personnel.
- Prepare manpower deployment and shift schedules based on hostel occupancy.
- Monitor attendance, punctuality, grooming, discipline, productivity, and performance.
- Ensure adequate manpower availability across all hostels.
- Conduct regular training on cleaning standards, hygiene, safety, student interaction, and professional conduct.

Looking after the Student Residential Experience, Linen & Laundry Management & Hostel Room Readiness

Educational Qualification

- Bachelor's degree in Hotel Management, Hospitality Management, Facility Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Master's degree / MBA / Hotel & Hospitality Management qualification will be an advantage.

Experience

- 10–15+ years of relevant experience in housekeeping, hospitality, facility management, hotel operations, hostel administration, or large residential/institutional operations.
- Proven experience managing large housekeeping teams and multiple residential facilities.
- Experience in universities, boarding/residential institutions, hotels, hospitals, corporate campuses, or large residential facilities will be preferred.
- Experience managing outsourced housekeeping and laundry vendors is desirable.
