Industry Preference: EPC / Electrical Transmission / Infrastructure / Facility Management
Job Purpose To manage the company's finance and accounting functions, ensure accurate financial reporting, maintain robust financial controls, manage cash flow and working capital, ensure statutory compliance, and provide timely financial information to management for business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Management
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations and ensure accurate recording of all financial transactions.
- Supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, bank reconciliation and expense accounting.
- Ensure timely monthly, quarterly and annual closing of books.
- Prepare and review Profit & Loss Account, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow statements.
- Monitor project-wise and company-level profitability.
- Maintain proper accounting records and supporting documentation.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and company policies.
Budgeting & Financial Planning
- Prepare annual budgets and periodic financial forecasts.
- Monitor actual expenditure against approved budgets.
- Analyse budget variances and provide corrective recommendations.
- Support management in financial planning and business decision-making.
- Prepare MIS reports covering revenue, expenses, profitability, receivables, payables and cash flow.
Cash Flow & Working Capital Management
- Prepare and monitor daily/weekly/monthly cash-flow requirements.
- Manage working capital efficiently.
- Monitor customer collections and outstanding receivables.
- Follow up with concerned departments for timely recovery of dues.
- Plan vendor payments based on cash availability and agreed payment terms.
- Monitor advances, deposits, retention money and other project-related financial exposures.
Project & EPC Finance
- Monitor project-wise revenue, expenditure, profitability and cash flow.
- Review project budgets and cost against actual performance.
- Track work orders, purchase orders, subcontractor bills and customer billing.
- Monitor retention, mobilization advances, performance guarantees and other project-related financial matters.
- Coordinate with project teams for timely submission and certification of bills.
- Identify cost overruns and financial risks at an early stage.
Taxation & Statutory Compliance
- Ensure timely compliance with GST, TDS, Income Tax and other applicable statutory requirements.
- Coordinate with consultants, auditors and tax professionals.
- Ensure timely filing of statutory returns and payment of taxes.
- Maintain proper documentation for tax assessments and audits.
- Monitor statutory notices and ensure timely responses.
Audit & Internal Controls
- Coordinate internal, statutory and tax audits.
- Prepare audit schedules and provide required documents to auditors.
- Establish and monitor effective financial controls.
- Identify accounting errors, control weaknesses and financial risks.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, approval procedures and delegation of authority.
- Implement checks to prevent financial leakage, unauthorized payments and fraud.
Banking & Treasury
- Manage day-to-day banking activities.
- Coordinate with banks regarding working capital facilities, loans, guarantees and other banking requirements.
- Monitor bank balances and fund utilization.
- Manage issuance and renewal of Bank Guarantees, Letters of Credit and other financial instruments.
- Maintain proper records of bank guarantees, security deposits and other financial commitments.
MIS & Management Reporting
- Prepare monthly financial MIS for management.
- Provide reports on
- Revenue and profitability
- Project-wise profitability
- Receivables and ageing
- Payables and ageing
- Cash flow
- Budget vs. actual
- Outstanding advances
- Tax liabilities
- Working capital
- Provide financial analysis and recommendations to management.
Team Management
- Lead and supervise the Finance & Accounts team.
- Allocate work and monitor team performance.
- Review accounting entries and financial reports prepared by the team.
- Train team members on accounting processes, controls and compliance requirements.
- Ensure timely completion of departmental activities.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Accuracy and timely closure of accounts.
- Timely submission of monthly MIS.
- Reduction in outstanding receivables.
- Effective working-capital management.
- Timely statutory compliance with minimum penalties/interest.
- Accuracy of project-wise profitability reporting.
- Budget adherence and control over operating expenses.
- Timely completion of audits.
- Proper management of cash flow and banking facilities.
- Reduction of financial leakages and accounting discrepancies.
- Compliance with internal financial controls and company policies.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of accounting and financial management.
- Good understanding of GST, TDS, Income Tax and statutory compliance.
- Good knowledge of budgeting and cash-flow management.
- Experience in project accounting and cost control.
- Strong knowledge of MS Excel and accounting/ERP software.
- Good understanding of MIS and financial reporting.
- Leadership and team-management capability.
- High level of accuracy, confidentiality and integrity.

Applicant should have strong experience in finance and accounting, preferably in a project-based, EPC, infrastructure, electrical transmission, construction or facility management organization. The candidate should be capable of independently managing accounting, taxation, cash flow, MIS, audits and financial controls while working closely with senior management and project teams.
