Role Overview

We are looking for a hands-on Maintenance Engineer to own the upkeep of all manufacturing equipment, utilities, and infrastructure at our Sriperumbudur plant. This role is central to our ZED Gold journey — you will be responsible for implementing Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), driving measurable improvements in equipment effectiveness, and building the documented maintenance systems that ZED Gold requires.

Key ResponsibilitiesPreventive & Predictive Maintenance

- Develop, maintain, and execute a Preventive Maintenance (PM) schedule for all production machines, utilities (compressors, chillers, generators), and infrastructure
- Conduct scheduled inspections and servicing in line with OEM recommendations and internal SOP requirements
- Introduce predictive maintenance practices (vibration monitoring, thermal checks, oil analysis) to reduce unplanned downtime

Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
- Track and improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) — Availability, Performance, Quality — for critical machines
- Maintain daily downtime logs and analyse breakdown patterns; present weekly MTBF and MTTR trends to the Production Head
- Drive Autonomous Maintenance (AM) initiatives — train operators to perform basic care and first-line checks on their machines

Breakdown Maintenance




- Attend equipment breakdowns and restore machines safely and efficiently.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults and minimize production downtime.
- Maintain breakdown records and identify recurring failure points.

Calibration Management
- Maintain a master calibration register for all measuring and test equipment (pressure gauges, leak testers, vernier callipers, torque tools, etc.)
- Ensure all instruments are calibrated on schedule by accredited labs; maintain calibration certificates as per ISO 9001 and ZED audit requirements
- Control out-of-calibration instruments immediately — isolate, tag, and initiate corrective action

ZED Gold Compliance
- Drive plant compliance with ZED Gold parameters related to maintenance: equipment uptime, calibration accuracy, 5S in maintenance bays, energy monitoring, and waste reduction
- Prepare and maintain all maintenance-related documentation required for ZED internal and external audits
- Participate in ZED self-assessment reviews and gap-closure activities alongside the Quality team

Energy & Environment
- Monitor energy consumption of major equipment; identify and implement energy-saving measures
- Ensure safe disposal of maintenance waste (used oil, filters, e-waste) in line with applicable regulations
- Support implementation of environmentally responsible practices aligned with ZED Gold's zero-effect principles

Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with workplace safety norms — permit-to-work, lockout/tagout (LOTO), PPE adherence
- Maintain an up-to-date equipment asset register with service history,



spare parts inventory, and AMC details
- Coordinate with external vendors for specialised repairs, AMC contracts, and spare parts procurement

Continual Improvement
- Identify recurring failures and lead root-cause analysis (Why-Why / Fishbone); implement permanent corrective actions
- Suggest and implement cost-effective upgrades to improve machine reliability and reduce maintenance cost
- Contribute to new machine installation, commissioning, and operator training

Skills & Competencies

Technical:

- Working knowledge of mechanical systems (hydraulics, pneumatics, drive systems) and basic electrical systems (panels, motors, VFDs)
- Familiarity with TPM methodology and OEE calculation
- Understanding of calibration systems and traceability requirements under ISO 9001
- Knowledge of ZED (MSME) scheme parameters — Silver to Gold requirements is a strong advantage

Systems & Documentation:

- Ability to create and follow SOPs, checklists, maintenance logs, and Kaizen records
- Comfortable with Excel/Google Sheets for tracking schedules and KPIs; ERP/CMMS experience is a plus

Soft Skills:

- Proactive and systematic — follows through on planned maintenance without being prompted
- Clear communicator — can brief the Production Head and MD on maintenance KPIs without jargon
- Team player — works closely with the Production, Quality, and Store teams
