– Maintenance Engineer
Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Engineer to manage and ensure the reliable operation of production machinery, electrical systems, plant utilities, and other engineering equipment at our Rai manufacturing plant.
The role will be responsible for preventive and breakdown maintenance, Facility maintenance, troubleshooting, machine availability, ensuring spare-parts management, environment health and safety, and continuous improvement of plant equipment to minimize downtime and support uninterrupted production.
Key Responsibilities
1. Plant & Machine Maintenance
- Handle day-to-day maintenance activities of production machinery, plant equipment, and utilities.
- Execute preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance as per the approved maintenance schedule.
- Ensure maximum availability and reliability of production machines.
- Conduct routine inspection of machines and identify potential failures before breakdown.
- Maintain machine history, maintenance records, and breakdown reports.
- Analyze recurring breakdowns and implement corrective and preventive actions.
2. Electrical & Mechanical Troubleshooting
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and automation-related issues.
- Diagnose faults in motors, control panels, sensors, drives/VFDs, contactors, relays, and other electrical components.
- Handle basic PLC-related troubleshooting and coordinate with automation specialists where required.
- Ensure proper functioning of compressors, pumps, DG sets, electrical panels, and other plant utilities.
- Read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings.
3. Preventive Maintenance
- Prepare and implement daily, weekly, monthly, and annual preventive maintenance schedules.
- Ensure timely completion of preventive maintenance activities without affecting production.
- Maintain PM checklists and equipment maintenance records.
- Monitor machine performance and identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability.
- Track maintenance KPIs such as MTBF, MTTR, machine downtime, and preventive maintenance compliance.

Breakdown Management
- Respond promptly to machine breakdowns and restore equipment with minimum downtime.
- Coordinate with Production to prioritize critical breakdowns.
- Conduct root-cause analysis for major and repeated breakdowns.
- Prepare breakdown reports and implement permanent corrective actions.
- Maintain a record of breakdown frequency and downtime for critical machines.
5. Utilities & Plant Infrastructure
- Ensure proper operation and maintenance of plant utilities and engineering systems.
- Monitor equipment such as air compressors, pumps, DG sets, electrical distribution systems, water systems, and other utility equipment, as applicable.
- Coordinate periodic servicing and AMC activities for critical equipment.
- Ensure timely inspection and servicing of plant equipment.
6. Spare Parts & Vendor Management
- Identify and maintain adequate stock of critical maintenance spares, consumables, tools, and equipment.
- Prepare spare-part requirements based on preventive maintenance and breakdown history.
- Coordinate with vendors/service providers for repair, servicing, AMC, and technical support.
- Evaluate vendor performance and ensure timely completion of maintenance jobs.
7. Equipment Installation and Commissioning
- Support installation, commissioning, shifting, modification, and trial runs of current machinery.
- Provide technical support during machine installation and process improvements.
8. Safety & Compliance
- Ensure maintenance activities are carried out in accordance with plant safety procedures and statutory requirements.
- Follow proper electrical isolation and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures during maintenance work.
- Ensure technicians follow appropriate PPE and safety practices.
- Maintain required maintenance and safety documentation and conduct safety audits of plant.
9. Team Supervision
- Supervise and guide maintenance technicians and helpers.
- Allocate daily maintenance activities and monitor completion.
- Train technicians on equipment troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and safe working practices.
- Ensure discipline, housekeeping, and safety within the maintenance area.
Required Qualification Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech. in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or a related Engineering discipline.
Required Experience
5–7 years of relevant experience in maintenance in a manufacturing / industrial plant environment.
Candidates with hands-on experience in production machinery, preventive maintenance, breakdown maintenance, plant utilities, EHS and maintenance team handling will be preferred.
