Developer - Platform/Product (Mainframe IMS DBA)

Location: Hyderabad

Role Overview A leading global technology services company is looking for a talented and experienced Developer - Platform/Product with strong expertise in Mainframe IMS DBA to join its growing technology team. This role involves designing, supporting, and optimizing enterprise platform solutions while ensuring database reliability, performance, and availability. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical foundation, excellent analytical capabilities, and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

Design, build, and support enterprise platform and product solutions leveraging Mainframe IMS databases.

Work closely with business stakeholders, architects, and development teams to understand requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.

Administer and manage IMS databases, ensuring optimal performance, stability, and availability.

Implement database best practices related to performance tuning, monitoring, capacity planning, backup, and recovery.

Analyze and resolve database-related incidents, performance bottlenecks, and production issues.

Support database upgrades, maintenance activities, and system enhancements.

Create and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and knowledge repositories.

Ensure adherence to security, compliance, and governance standards.

Participate in peer reviews and contribute to continuous process and technology improvements.

Keep abreast of emerging trends and advancements in mainframe technologies and database administration.

Required Skills

Hands-on experience as a Mainframe IMS DBA.

Strong understanding of IMS database architecture, administration, and maintenance.

Expertise in database design, implementation, monitoring, and support.





Proven experience in database performance tuning and optimization.

Good knowledge of backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes.

Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.

Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.

Ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams.

Preferred Skills

Experience working with additional database management systems (DBMS).

Knowledge of mainframe-related technologies such as COBOL, JCL, VSAM, or similar technologies.

Familiarity with Agile development practices and project management tools.

Understanding of data security, risk management, and regulatory compliance requirements.

Exposure to platform engineering, system integration, or modernization initiatives.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.

Relevant certifications in Mainframe technologies, IMS DBA, or database administration are advantageous.

Ability to work in a rapid-paced environment while managing multiple priorities and deliverables.
