Job Purpose

Responsible for creation, validation, maintenance, and release of Mechanical Engineering BOMs for vehicle/product systems. Ensure accurate product structures, part master data, engineering changes, revisions, and configuration throughout the product lifecycle while coordinating with Design, Manufacturing, Purchase, Quality, Supply Chain, and PLM teams.

Key Responsibilities

1. Mechanical BOM Creation Maintenance

- Create and maintain Mechanical Engineering BOM (E-BOM) for complete product/vehicle assemblies.
- Develop BOM hierarchy covering:
- System
- Assembly
- Sub-assembly
- Child components

- Ensure accuracy of:

- Part number
- Part description
- Quantity
- Unit of measure
- Material/specification
- Revision level
- Part status
- Variant/applicability

- Perform regular BOM validation and discrepancy checks.
- Ensure BOM readiness according to project and engineering release milestones.

1. Mechanical Component Management

Handle BOMs for mechanical systems such as:
- Chassis and frame
- Suspension system
- Steering system
- Braking system
- Body structures
- Sheet metal components
- Plastic and trim components
- Interior/exterior parts
- Fasteners
- Brackets and mounting components
- HVAC-related mechanical parts
- Battery enclosure and mounting structures for EV applications
- Motor, gearbox and drivetrain mechanical assemblies
- Thermal management components

1. Engineering Change Management

- Process ECR, ECO and ECN for mechanical components.
- Update BOMs based on approved design changes.




- Maintain revision history and engineering change traceability.
- Implement part replacement, addition, deletion and quantity changes.
- Manage interchangeability and supersession of components.
- Ensure effective date/serial applicability of engineering changes where required.
- Coordinate with concerned departments for timely change implementation.

1. Drawing BOM Validation

- Review mechanical drawings and CAD-related engineering data.
- Verify consistency between:
- Drawing
- CAD structure
- Part master
- E-BOM
- Engineering change documents

- Identify incorrect quantities, missing components and duplicate parts.
- Ensure drawing revisions and BOM revisions are synchronized.

1. PLM / PDM Management

- Create and maintain mechanical parts and BOM structures in PLM/PDM.
- Maintain proper lifecycle status such as:
- In Work
- Review
- Released
- Obsolete

- Ensure compliance with part numbering and naming conventions.
- Maintain revision and configuration control.
- Support engineering data transfer/interface between PLM and ERP.

1. E-BOM to M-BOM Coordination

- Support Manufacturing Engineering during conversion of Engineering BOM to Manufacturing BOM.
- Resolve discrepancies between engineering and manufacturing structures.
- Ensure engineering changes are correctly reflected in manufacturing BOMs.
- Support production and manufacturing teams during recent product introduction.
