Key Responsibilities

Library Management & Operations

- Manage the day-to-day operations of the school library and ensure an organized, welcoming, and student-friendly environment.
- Maintain and organize print, digital, and multimedia library resources.
- Handle cataloguing, classification, circulation, shelving, inventory, and library records.
- Assist students and teachers in locating appropriate books, reference materials, and digital resources.
- Monitor borrowing and returning of library resources and maintain accurate records.
- Support the selection, acquisition, and development of age-appropriate library resources.

Teaching & Student Learning

- Conduct engaging library periods and reading sessions for students across different age groups.
- Develop students' reading habits, research skills, information literacy, and independent learning abilities.
- Guide students in selecting books according to their age, reading level, interests, and learning needs.
- Introduce students to different genres, authors, cultures, and perspectives.
- Support students in developing effective research and information-evaluation skills.
- Encourage students to use books, databases, online resources, and other learning materials responsibly.

IB & Inquiry-Based Learning

- Support inquiry-based and transdisciplinary learning by helping students access relevant resources.
- Collaborate with teachers to identify library resources that support classroom units and projects.
- Encourage the IB Learner Profile, Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills, curiosity, and independent inquiry.
- Support students with research projects, presentations, extended learning, and age-appropriate information gathering.
- Promote responsible and ethical use of information and digital resources.





Reading Programs & Events

- Plan and conduct reading initiatives, storytelling sessions, book clubs, author interactions, reading challenges, and library activities.
- Organize celebrations and activities related to World Book Day, National Library Week, literary events, and other reading-focused occasions.
- Encourage students to participate in reading competitions, book reviews, creative writing, and literary activities.
- Create attractive book displays, reading corners, thematic collections, and student-friendly library spaces.

Digital Library & Technology

- Assist students and teachers in using digital libraries, online databases, e-books, educational platforms, and research resources.
- Maintain awareness of current educational technology and digital information resources.
- Provide basic support for library computers, printers, scanners, and other technology used within the library.
- Promote safe, responsible, and effective use of digital information.

Collaboration & School Community

- Work closely with teachers, coordinators, and academic teams to support curriculum requirements.
- Assist teachers in identifying suitable resources for classroom teaching and student projects.
- Communicate with parents when required regarding reading programs and student library activities.
- Support school-wide academic, cultural, and literary events.
- Participate in professional development and contribute to the continuous improvement of library services.

What We're Looking For

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Library Science / Library & Information Science (BLIS / MLIS) or a related field.




- 1–5 years of experience in a school library, educational institution, or similar workplace preferred.
- Strong interest in children's and young-adult literature.
- Good knowledge of library organization, cataloguing, classification, and circulation systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to engage students and create a positive reading culture.
- Comfortable working with digital resources, online databases, and educational technology.
- Strong organizational and record-management skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with teachers and academic teams.

Preferred Skills

- Experience working with IB, iCBSE, CBSE, ICSE, Cambridge, or IGCSE school environments.
- Familiarity with inquiry-based learning and student-centered education.
- Experience conducting storytelling, reading programs, book clubs, or literary activities.
- Knowledge of digital library platforms and library management systems.
- Creative approach to developing reading initiatives and student engagement activities.
- Strong English communication skills.
