We are building a team of driven engineers, who are developing AI products for financial services both for in-house and external use. We are seeking a Lead Software Engineer ready to take on leadership and project management responsibilities. We need at least 5-10 years experience working in a startup environment with experience leading teams.
The role involves a reasonable ability to understand financial math (probability and calculus) and algorithms, not just usage of APIs to create agents etc.
Role Description
Candidates should have strong professional experience with modern web development environments, along with excellent problem-solving and debugging skills across systems. We seek candidates who can communicate fluently with junior team members and mentor them. This is not a purely managerial role and the candidate should be able code extensively with or without coding agents.
The ideal candidate blends deep technical expertise with product-focused skills, including a basic understanding of machine learning systems, especially LLMs, and strong capabilities in product design and user research to drive the development of thoughtful, AI-powered products.
Experience with ML model deployment and LLM application development is a plus, as is strong DevOps experience.
We require high levels of self-direction and motivation. This is not a 9 to 5 job and will require working with a sense of urgency required in current market workplace. The ideal candidate should be able to work for some hours with colleagues in Toronto and Austin.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Computer Science principles and Software Development methodologies
- Extremely good at python development and scaling
- Good communication skills
- Ability to learn new technologies rapidly
- Undergraduate degree in Engineering or Computer Science from IIT, a top NIT or IIIT is required. Please note that if you do not meet the educational qualifications, your application will be rejected.
- Experience working with extremely large datasets or HPC is a plus
