Lead Performance Engineer E-commerce / Supply Chain

We are seeking a Lead Performance Engineer to drive performance testing and engineering initiatives across large-scale e-commerce and supply chain platforms. The role will focus on ensuring application speed, scalability, reliability, and stability across microservices, APIs, and distributed systems.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead performance engineering and testing activities including load, stress, scalability, endurance, and failover testing.
- Develop workload models based on user concurrency, transaction volumes, traffic patterns, and business requirements.
- Define performance benchmarks, SLAs, KPIs, and acceptance criteria.
- Plan, execute, analyze, and report performance tests aligned with application release cycles.
- Perform extensive JMeter-based performance testing and develop reusable performance test scripts and frameworks.
- Analyze microservices and REST APIs for response time, throughput, scalability, and resource utilization.
- Identify performance bottlenecks and perform root-cause analysis and optimization recommendations.
- Build and maintain performance dashboards using application, infrastructure, and observability metrics.
- Work closely with development, QA, DevOps, infrastructure, and product teams to identify performance risks early in the SDLC.
- Support production performance troubleshooting, capacity planning, scalability analysis, and release readiness.




- Collaborate with offshore/global teams and provide technical guidance on performance testing execution and best practices.
- Promote shift-left performance engineering and establish reusable testing standards and frameworks.

Required Skills
- 10+ years of Performance Engineering / Performance Testing experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with JMeter — heavy JMeter usage is required.
- Experience with microservices, REST APIs, distributed systems, and high-transaction applications.
- Strong knowledge of load, stress, scalability, endurance, and failover testing.
- Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Strong experience with performance monitoring and observability.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.

AI & Contemporary Engineering
- Experience with or knowledge of AI-assisted engineering tools such as Codex and GitHub Copilot.
- Ability to leverage AI tools for test development, automation, performance analysis, troubleshooting, and engineering productivity.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in e-commerce, retail, or supply chain environments.
- Experience with high-volume/high-transaction platforms.
- Knowledge of SRE practices, reliability engineering, chaos/failover testing, and scalability design.
- Experience working with global/offshore teams.
- Experience with UI/web portal performance testing is a plus, although the primary focus is microservices and API performance.
