Lead / Sr engineer Duct & Bunker Erection

Location Project Sites Across India - Nabinagar / Gurdwara / Chhattisgarh

Job Purpose To lead and execute erection activities related to boiler ducting systems, coal bunkers, hoppers, chutes, duct supports, and associated structural interfaces in thermal power plant projects. The role is responsible for ensuring secure, timely, and quality execution of erection works in line with project schedules, engineering requirements, and customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities

Site Execution & Installation

- Lead erection activities for boiler ducts, flue gas ducts, air ducts, coal bunkers, hoppers, chutes, and associated structures.
- Ensure erection is carried out as per approved drawings, specifications, and erection methodologies.
- Coordinate installation of duct supports, expansion joints, dampers, and duct accessories.
- Monitor fit-up, alignment, bolting, welding, and assembly activities at site.

Planning & Progress Monitoring
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly erection plans aligned with project schedule.
- Monitor productivity and identify opportunities for schedule improvement and recovery.
- Ensure optimum utilization of manpower, tools, tackles, cranes, and construction equipment.
- Maintain progress tracking through digital monitoring tools and reporting systems.

Engineering & Technical Coordination
- Interpret and review GA drawings, fabrication drawings, erection drawings, and isometric drawings.
- Coordinate with engineering, planning, quality, and commissioning teams for smooth execution.
- Resolve site technical issues and provide practical erection solutions.
- Ensure compliance with approved construction sequence and methodology.

Heavy Lift & Rigging Management
- Plan and supervise heavy lifting activities involving bunkers, ducts, and large structural assemblies.
- Ensure proper rigging practices, lifting studies, and adherence to safety procedures.




- Coordinate with crane agencies and lifting equipment teams for critical lifts.

Quality Management
- Ensure compliance with quality standards and inspection requirements.
- Monitor welding, fit-up, alignment, dimensional control, and NDT activities.
- Coordinate with QA/QC teams for inspections, punch point closure, and final acceptance.
- Ensure timely completion of quality documentation and inspection records.

Survey, Alignment & Completion
- Coordinate with survey teams for dimensional control, elevation checks, and alignment verification.
- Monitor mechanical completion activities and closure of pending works.
- Support commissioning and system handover activities.
- Ensure completion dossiers and handover documentation are submitted as per project requirements.

Material & Cost Control
- Track material receipt, issuance, consumption, and reconciliation.
- Monitor erection quantities and support billing certification processes.
- Minimize rework, wastage, and material losses through effective controls.

Stakeholder Management
- Coordinate with clients, consultants, OEM representatives, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
- Participate in project review meetings and provide status updates on erection progress.
- Ensure timely resolution of site constraints impacting execution schedules.

Safety Management
- Ensure strict compliance with EHS policies, permit-to-work systems, and project safety requirements.
- Conduct toolbox talks, safety audits, and risk assessments.
- Promote a zero-incident culture across all site activities.

Educational Qualification
- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (for experienced candidates)

Experience
- 12-18 years of experience in Thermal Power Plant, Boiler, BTG, or Heavy Industrial Project Erection.
- Hands-on experience in erection of boiler ducts, coal bunkers, hoppers, chutes, and associated structures.
- Experience in managing large work fronts, subcontractors, heavy lifts, and project execution schedules.
