Description We are seeking an experienced Lead CMS & WordPress Developer with 8–10+ years of hands-on experience to lead the architecture, development, administration and continuous improvement of enterprise websites and digital content platforms. The role will be the senior technical owner for WordPress and Sanity CMS, covering solution design, configuration, custom development, database management, integrations, security, performance, deployment and operational support.

The successful candidate will build scalable digital experiences, develop custom themes and plugins, integrate approved third-party plugins and services, and establish robust engineering and content-governance standards. The role will also work closely with Corporate Communications, Marketing, Enterprise IT and business stakeholders to support SharePoint and enterprise communication channels. Power BI, website analytics, Microsoft Copilot and AI enablement experience will be advantageous.

Key Responsibilities CMS Technical Leadership & Architecture

- Own the technical architecture, engineering standards, roadmap and lifecycle of enterprise WordPress and Sanity CMS platforms.
- Translate business, content and communication requirements into secure, scalable, maintainable and user-focused technical solutions.
- Provide technical leadership, solution reviews, code reviews, implementation guidance and escalation support to developers, administrators and delivery partners.
- Lead CMS implementations, upgrades, migrations, re-platforming initiatives and continuous improvement programs.

WordPress & Sanity CMS Development

- Design, develop, configure, administer and support enterprise WordPress and Sanity CMS solutions across development, test and production environments.
- Develop custom WordPress themes, Gutenberg blocks, templates and plugins using PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript and WordPress APIs.
- Configure and customize Sanity Studio, content schemas, structured-content models, editorial workflows, validation rules, previews and permissions.
- Build headless and composable digital experiences using React.js, Next.js, Sanity APIs, GROQ or GraphQL and modern front-end engineering practices.
- Establish reusable components, coding standards, version control, testing, release and deployment practices that improve quality and delivery speed.

Database, Plugins & Integrations

- Manage and optimise CMS data structures and relational databases, particularly MySQL or MariaDB, including queries, indexing, backup, restore and migration activities.
- Design, develop, test and maintain custom WordPress plugins aligned with coding, security and maintainability standards.
- Assess, configure and integrate approved third-party plugins, APIs, authentication services, analytics platforms, marketing tools and enterprise systems.




- Troubleshoot integration failures, plugin conflicts, data issues and performance bottlenecks, and manage vendor escalation where required.

Website Development & Digital Experience

- Deliver responsive, accessible, secure, search-friendly and high-performing public websites, intranets, landing pages and digital experiences.
- Partner with UX, design, content and communications teams to convert requirements and designs into reusable and consistent digital experiences.
- Implement technical SEO, accessibility, privacy, consent, caching, content-delivery and performance optimization practices.
- Monitor website availability, Core Web Vitals, security, content quality and user experience, and drive measurable improvements.

Administration, Security & Governance

- Administer CMS environments, user roles, permissions, publishing workflows, media libraries, taxonomies, localisation and content lifecycle controls.
- Plan and execute platform, theme and plugin updates using controlled testing, change, rollback and release procedures.
- Implement security hardening, vulnerability remediation, backup, disaster recovery, audit logging and monitoring controls.
- Maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, configuration records, support procedures and service knowledge articles.

SharePoint & Communication Channels

- Support SharePoint Online communication sites, intranet portals, pages, templates, permissions, metadata, search and governance.
- Provide technical support and integration guidance across communication channels such as SharePoint, Teams, Outlook, Poppulo, Thrive and related platforms.
- Partner with Corporate Communications and business stakeholders to deliver governed, consistent and measurable campaigns and content journeys.

Power BI, Analytics, Microsoft Copilot & AI Enablement — Desirable

- Use web analytics and reporting tools to measure traffic, engagement, conversion, content effectiveness and platform adoption.
- Develop or support Power BI dashboards and governed reporting solutions using website, CMS and communication-channel data.
- Identify practical Microsoft Copilot and AI-enabled opportunities for content discovery, authoring, governance, analytics and productivity.
- Work with security, privacy and governance stakeholders to ensure AI-enabled capabilities follow organisational standards.

Delivery & Stakeholder Leadership

- Manage priorities, estimates, risks, dependencies,



suppliers and delivery outcomes acrossmultiple initiatives.
- Mentor team members and promote engineering quality, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
- Communicate complex technical matters clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Mandatory Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- 8–10+ years of hands-on experience in CMS and enterprise website development, including senior technical ownership or leadership.
- Deep WordPress development, administration and configuration experience, including multisite or complex enterprise implementations.
- Strong experience with Sanity CMS, including Sanity Studio customization, schema design, structured content, GROQ or GraphQL, APIs and headless delivery.
- Proven development experience with PHP, JavaScript, TypeScript, React.js, Next.js, HTML andCSS.
- Strong MySQL or MariaDB database experience, including schema understanding, querying, performance optimization, backup, restore and migration.
- Demonstrable experience developing custom WordPress themes and plugins and integrating third-party plugins, APIs and services.
- Experience delivering responsive, accessible, secure and performance-optimized websites and digital experiences.
- Practical SharePoint Online experience covering communication sites, pages, permissions, content architecture and governance.
- Experience partnering with Corporate Communications, Marketing, content owners and enterprise technology stakeholders.
- Expert knowledge of WordPress core architecture, hooks, REST API, Gutenberg, themes, plugins, WP-CLI, security and performance optimization.
- Strong knowledge of Sanity Studio, Content Lake, schema modelling, GROQ, APIs, previews, workflows and composable content architecture.
- Strong full-stack web-development capability across PHP, JavaScript, TypeScript, React.js,Next.js, HTML and CSS.
- Solid database, API integration, authentication, caching, CDN, hosting and deployment knowledge.
- Understanding of secure coding, OWASP practices, privacy, consent management, accessibility standards and technical SEO.
- Knowledge of Git-based source control, code review, CI/CD, automated testing and structured release management.
- Working knowledge of SharePoint Online, Microsoft 365 and enterprise communication channels.
- Good-to-have capability in Power BI, web analytics, KPI reporting, Microsoft Copilot and responsible AI enablement.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, stakeholder-management, mentoring and technical decision-making skills.
- Ability to lead complex delivery in a global, regulated environment while managing competing priorities and operational risks.
