Label Manager - Kannada Music:

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Label Manager – Kannada Music to take ownership of and grow our Kannada music catalogue.

This is a business, catalogue and label management role, focussed on maximising the commercial potential of the repertoire, identifying new opportunities, developing artist and industry relationships, and ensuring the catalogue remains relevant and competitive in the evolving Kannada music market.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the Kannada music ecosystem, artists, and audiences.

The role will involve working closely with creative, marketing and production teams.

Catalogue Ownership & Management

- Take ownership of the Kannada catalogue and develop a clear strategy for its commercial performance.
- Audit the catalogue to identify high-potential titles, gaps, rights issues, metadata/artwork requirements and opportunities for reactivation.
- Identify opportunities across streaming, YouTube, playlists, and other platforms .
- Proactively identify underexploited catalogue assets and develop plans to increase their consumption and revenue.
- Work with internal teams to convert these opportunities into commercially viable campaigns and releases.

New Music & Label Development

- Identify opportunities to sign, acquire, license or partner on current Kannada music that complements the catalogue and label strategy.
- Scout emerging and established Kannada artists, producers, composers and independent labels.
- Evaluate new music opportunities from both a creative and commercial perspective.
- Build a pipeline of potential new releases and partnerships aligned with the label's overall business objectives.

Commercial & P&L; Management

- Take responsibility for the commercial performance and P&L; of the Kannada catalogue/business.
- Develop revenue and cost projections and monitor performance against budgets.
- Analyse performance across streaming,



YouTube, licensing, and other exploitation channels.
- Use data and market intelligence to identify opportunities for revenue growth and cost optimisation.
- Prepare regular business updates and performance reports for management.

Artist & Industry

· Develop and maintain strong relationships across the Kannada music ecosystem.

- Build relationships with artists, managers, producers, lyricists, composers, independent labels, music publishers, event companies, media and other industry stakeholders.
- Stay closely connected to developments in the Kannada music market, including emerging artists, genres, sounds, collaborations and audience trends.
- Monitor streaming charts, playlists, YouTube and social platforms to identify commercially relevant trends and opportunities.
- Track developments in key international Kannada music markets and identify opportunities for growth beyond India.

Cross-functional Collaboration

- Work closely with Digital, Marketing, YouTube, Operations, Legal, Finance, Rights and Creative teams to execute the label strategy.
- Coordinate projects across teams and ensure priorities, timelines and commercial objectives are clearly communicated.

Requirements

- 4–7 years of experience in music labels, catalogue management, music licensing, artist management, music business or a related role.
- Strong understanding of the Kannada music industry and ecosystem.
- Strong understanding of Kannada language, culture and audience behaviour.
- Proven experience in catalogue exploitation, music business development or label management.
- Experience managing budgets and/or P&L; responsibilities.
- Strong understanding of music rights, licensing, royalties and digital distribution.
- Experience working with artists, managers, labels, producers and other music-industry stakeholders.
- Strong negotiation and relationship-management skills.
- Comfortable working with data and performance analytics across platforms.
