Key Responsibilities:

Laboratory Operations Management:

- Manage day-to-day operations of clinical and diagnostic laboratories.

- Ensure smooth functioning of Biochemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Immunology, Serology, Histopathology, and Molecular Diagnostics sections.

- Monitor sample collection, processing, testing, reporting, and record maintenance.

- Ensure timely delivery of accurate test results.

Quality Assurance &

- Compliance:

- Implement and monitor Quality Management Systems (QMS).

- Ensure compliance with NABL, NABH, ISO 15189, and other applicable regulatory standards.

- Conduct internal audits and coordinate external quality assurance programmes.

- Monitor quality indicators and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

Team Management:

- Lead, mentor, and supervise laboratory technicians, phlebotomists, microbiologists, and support staff.

- Prepare staff rosters and manage workforce productivity.

- Conduct performance reviews and identify training needs.

- Ensure adherence to SOPs and laboratory safety protocols.

Equipment &

- Inventory Management:

- Oversee maintenance, calibration, validation, and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment.

- Coordinate with biomedical and service vendors for preventive maintenance.

- Manage inventory of reagents, consumables, and laboratory supplies.

- Control laboratory operational costs and minimise wastage.

Patient &

- Clinician Support:

- Coordinate with doctors, consultants, nursing teams, and hospital departments regarding laboratory services.

- Resolve escalated issues related to laboratory reports and services.

- Ensure excellent patient experience and service quality.

Financial &

- Administrative Responsibilities:

- Monitor laboratory revenue, expenses, and profitability.

- Prepare monthly MIS reports and operational dashboards.

- Track test volumes, turnaround time (TAT), reagent consumption, and productivity metrics.

- Assist management in budgeting and strategic planning.





Safety &

- Risk Management:

- Ensure adherence to infection control practices and biomedical waste management regulations.

- Implement laboratory safety standards and emergency response procedures.

- Conduct risk assessments and incident investigations.

Required Qualifications:

Education:

- B.Sc. / M.Sc.

Medical Laboratory

Technology (MLT) / Microbiology / Biochemistry / Biotechnology.

- BMLT with relevant experience may also be considered.

- Additional certification in Quality Management Systems, NABL, or Healthcare Management preferred.

Experience:

- 6+ years of experience in diagnostics laboratories and hospital laboratory operations.

- Minimum 5 years of experience in a supervisory or managerial role.

- Experience in NABL-accredited laboratories preferred.

- Exposure to multi-speciality hospitals and diagnostic chains will be an added advantage.
