We are looking for an experienced Kong API Architect with strong expertise in Kong API Gateway, API Management, Microservices, Kubernetes, Docker, Cloud and API Security.

The candidate will be responsible for designing scalable and secure API Gateway solutions, defining API architecture and governance standards, and working closely with development, cloud and DevOps teams to build robust API ecosystems.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, architect and implement Kong API Gateway solutions using Kong Enterprise/OSS.
- Define API Management, API Governance and API lifecycle management standards.
- Architect and manage microservices-based API ecosystems.
- Configure and optimize Kong plugins for authentication, authorization, rate limiting, logging, security and traffic management.
- Implement OAuth2, JWT, API Key and mTLS security mechanisms.
- Integrate Kong with Kubernetes and Docker environments.
- Work with Kong Konnect for cloud and hybrid API management deployments.
- Ensure high availability, scalability, performance and reliability of API infrastructure.
- Work with development teams on REST and GraphQL API specifications.
- Monitor, troubleshoot and optimize API Gateway performance.
- Drive API versioning, lifecycle management, documentation and governance.
- Collaborate with DevOps teams on CI/CD and automation.
- Provide technical leadership,



architecture guidance and mentorship to engineering teams.
- Support API Gateway migration initiatives, including migration from platforms such as Apigee or MuleSoft to Kong.

Required Skills
- 5+ years of experience in API Management / API Integration / Integration Architecture.
- Strong hands-on experience with Kong API Gateway – Enterprise or OSS.
- Solid understanding of Microservices Architecture and API-First Design.
- Experience with Kubernetes and Docker.
- Strong knowledge of REST, GraphQL and API Security.
- Hands-on experience with OAuth2, JWT, API Keys and mTLS.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Strong scripting/programming skills in Lua, Python or Go.
- Experience with AWS, Azure or GCP.
- Understanding of API monitoring, logging, performance optimization and troubleshooting.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management and technical leadership skills.

Good to Have
- Experience with Kong Konnect.
- Knowledge of Service Mesh technologies such as Istio or Linkerd.
- Experience in Apigee / MuleSoft to Kong migration.
- Experience with hybrid and multi-cloud API architectures.
- Knowledge of API governance, API lifecycle management and enterprise integration patterns.

Pay: ₹1,500,000.00 - ₹2,500,000.00 per year
