Role Description The Junior Medical Coder internship is an on-site role based in Tiruchirappalli. Interns will assist in reviewing medical records and clinical documentation to assign appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes in line with standard coding guidelines. Day-to-day responsibilities may include supporting senior coders, validating data accuracy, updating patient information within systems, and helping maintain compliance with regulatory and billing requirements.

apply coding principles to practice cases, and collaborate with the team to improve coding quality and efficiency. This internship is designed to provide foundational experience in medical coding within a structured, learning-focused environment.

Qualifications

- Foundational knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and basic healthcare concepts suitable for an entry-level coding role.
- Familiarity with medical coding standards and classification systems (e.g., ICD, CPT, HCPCS) or willingness to learn them quickly.
- Solid attention to detail, accuracy in data entry, and the ability to follow structured guidelines and procedures.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills, with an aptitude for working with documentation and structured data.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate with trainers, peers, and senior coders.
- Proficiency with basic computer applications and comfort working with electronic health records or similar software tools.
- Diploma, degree, or coursework in healthcare, life sciences, nursing, or related fields; medical coding certification or training is an advantage.
- Demonstrated willingness to learn, accept feedback, and grow in a fast-paced, training-oriented environment.
