We are looking for a talented and creative fresh graduate from a fashion design school to work with us on developing clothing collections for a small-batch apparel business serving the Canadian market.
This is an excellent opportunity for a fashion design graduate who wants hands-on experience developing real commercial products from concept to production.
What you will do
- Study fashion references, trends, silhouettes, fabrics and construction techniques from online sources.
- Develop original garment designs inspired by market and fashion references.
- Convert concepts into practical garments suitable for small-batch production.
- Create sketches, technical drawings and basic tech packs.
- Develop garment measurements, specifications and construction details.
- Recommend suitable fabrics, trims, stitching and finishing techniques.
- Modify designs based on fitting and production feedback.
- Communicate with tailors/manufacturers regarding construction and specifications.
- Help develop small collections and individual styles for the Canadian market.
- Research current fashion trends and commercially viable designs.
Requirements
- Recent graduate or final-year student from a recognized Fashion Design / Apparel Design / Fashion Technology program.
- Solid understanding of garment construction and fashion fundamentals.
- Good knowledge of patterns, fabrics and garment measurements.
- Ability to create fashion sketches and technical drawings.
- Creative eye for identifying commercially appealing designs.
- Ability to work from visual references and transform them into original designs.
- Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator / Photoshop or similar fashion-design software is an advantage.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- A portfolio of college projects or personal designs is required.
Important
You do not need extensive industry experience. We are particularly interested in talented fresh graduates with strong design fundamentals, creativity and the ability to turn visual concepts into production-ready garments.
The work will initially involve small-batch development, with the possibility of continued work as the business grows.
Compensation
Compensation will be discussed based on experience, skills and portfolio.
