Role & responsibilities

- Develop innovative concepts within the realm of jewellery, that explore forms and ideas beyond conventional jewellery design.
- Explore mechanisms, movement, articulation, tactile elements and unconventional methods of wearing jewellery.
- Experiment with materials, construction techniques and manufacturing processes.
- Explore the use of precious raw material, coupled with unconventional material forms to create lifestyle functional and wearable products.
- Translate abstract concepts and ideas into functional, technically feasible and manufacturable designs.
- Develop concepts from initial brief through CAD, prototyping, testing and refinement.
- Work closely with craftsmen, manufacturers and technical teams to develop prototypes and finished pieces.
- Research and draw inspiration from engineering, architecture, product and industrial design, fashion, technology, nature, culture and everyday objects.
- Evaluate prototypes, identify design and technical challenges, and iterate solutions. Take ownership of product development.
- Pay close attention to proportion, functionality, construction, detailing and finish.
- Contribute to the development of new design approaches, techniques and capabilities within the organisation.

Preferred candidate profile We are looking for someone who is:

- Curious, observant and highly experimental in their approach to design.




- Strong in 3D thinking, spatial understanding and problem-solving.
- Genuinely interested in engineering, mechanisms, materials and how things are made.
- Comfortable with prototyping, testing, iteration and learning through experimentation.
- Detail-oriented, with a strong sensitivity to form, proportion, functionality and finish.
- An independent thinker who is willing to question established methods and explore alternatives.
- Comfortable working across creative and technical disciplines.
- Passionate about learning and developing expertise in jewellery, materials, manufacturing and design.

Educational Background A background in any of the following would be relevant:

- Jewellery Design
- Product / Industrial Design
- Mechanical or other Engineering disciplines
- Architecture
- Design or related disciplines

Candidates with robust portfolios and relevant practical experience will also be considered irrespective of their academic background.

Technical Skills

- Working knowledge of Rhino and/or MatrixGold is preferred.
- Understanding of the jewellery development process from concept CAD prototype manufacturing.
- Familiarity with materials, fabrication techniques and manufacturing processes is an advantage.
- Strong ability to visualise objects and mechanisms in three dimensions.
