IT Technician – Job Role & Responsibilities

Job Role:

We are looking for a skilled and responsible IT Technician to manage the school’s day-to-day IT infrastructure, computer systems, network connectivity, hardware, software, and technical support. The candidate should have good troubleshooting skills, basic networking knowledge, and the ability to provide timely technical assistance to teachers, administrative staff, and students. Experience in a school or educational institution will be an added advantage.

Roles & Responsibilities

- Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot computers, laptops, printers, projectors, smart boards, and other IT equipment.
- Provide technical support to teachers, administrative staff, students, and management.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, network, and connectivity issues.
- Maintain and monitor the school’s LAN, Wi-Fi, internet connectivity, routers, switches, and other networking devices.
- Install and update operating systems, applications, antivirus software, and required educational software.
- Manage user accounts, passwords, system access, and basic IT permissions.
- Provide technical support for school ERP, attendance systems, digital classrooms, online learning platforms, and other school applications.
- Ensure computers and systems are properly maintained and available for daily academic and administrative activities.
- Set up and provide technical support for meetings, presentations, seminars, examinations, and school events.
- Maintain proper records of IT assets, equipment, software licenses, repairs, and replacements.
- Monitor computer labs and ensure all systems are functioning properly.
- Perform regular data backup and basic data-recovery procedures as required.
- Identify and report potential security risks, unauthorized access,



malware, and other IT-related issues.
- Ensure antivirus, security updates, and system patches are regularly updated.
- Coordinate with external vendors/service providers for hardware repairs, networking, internet, CCTV, biometric systems, and other technical requirements.
- Maintain proper documentation of technical issues and resolutions.
- Assist in purchasing and evaluating current IT equipment and software based on school requirements.
- Follow school policies regarding data privacy, cybersecurity, and responsible use of technology.
- Respond promptly to technical emergencies and minimize downtime.
- Provide basic guidance and training to staff on using computers, software, smart boards, ERP, and other digital tools.
- Support the management in implementing new technology-based systems and digital initiatives within the school.

Qualifications & Skills
- Diploma/Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Applications, or a related field.
- Previous experience as an IT Technician, IT Support Executive, System Administrator, or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of computer hardware and software troubleshooting.
- Basic to good knowledge of networking, LAN, Wi-Fi, routers, switches, and internet troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of Windows operating systems, MS Office, printers, scanners, and common software applications.
- Good problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and respond quickly to technical issues.
- 1–2 years of relevant experience is preferred; school/educational institution experience will be an added advantage.

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
