Role Overview The employer is a multidisciplinary higher education group supporting large-scale academic, administrative, digital, and campus operations.

The IT Manager will own institution-wide technology strategy, service reliability, cybersecurity, enterprise applications, infrastructure, and user support. The position will translate academic and administrative priorities into secure, resilient, cost-effective IT operations and measurable service outcomes. The role reports to the Executive Vice President of the Trust, leads internal IT personnel and service partners, and supports technology-dependent teaching, learning, admissions, examinations, finance, human resources, libraries, and campus services.

Success requires mature judgment, hands-on technical depth, disciplined governance, and the ability to lead both critical incidents and long-term modernization.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and execute a multi-year IT strategy, operating plan, architecture roadmap, and modernization priorities aligned with academic, administrative, and institutional objectives.
- Direct reliable operations for wired and wireless networks, internet links, servers, storage, endpoints, identity services, cloud platforms, telephony, and technology-enabled campus systems.
- Govern enterprise applications supporting student administration, learning, admissions, examinations, finance, human resources, libraries, collaboration, reporting, and other critical institutional processes.
- Establish measurable service-management practices covering service requests, incidents, problems, changes, releases, configurations, assets, knowledge, escalation, and user satisfaction.
- Strengthen cybersecurity through risk assessment, identity and access management, endpoint protection, vulnerability remediation, patching, logging, awareness, incident response, and policy enforcement.
- Maintain tested backup, restoration, disaster-recovery, and business-continuity capabilities, with documented recovery priorities, ownership, dependencies, exercises, and corrective actions.
- Plan and control technology budgets, procurement, licensing, warranties, renewals, contracts, vendor performance, service levels, total cost, and lifecycle replacement decisions.
- Lead, coach, allocate, and evaluate the IT team; clarify accountability, build succession and knowledge coverage, and maintain responsive support during operational extensions.
- Deliver infrastructure upgrades, cloud or application migrations, laboratory and classroom technology projects, integrations, and deployments using disciplined scope, risk, schedule, and acceptance controls.
- Implement data governance, role-based access, integration controls, retention, quality checks, and reliable operational reporting while protecting confidential institutional and personal information.
- Partner with academic and administrative leaders to gather requirements, prioritize demand, communicate service impact, manage change, and improve technology adoption through training and guidance.
- Define IT performance indicators and provide concise management reporting on availability, security,

demand, backlog, cost, risk, project status, vendor performance, and improvement commitments.
- Oversee technology standards for new facilities, renovations, laboratories, classrooms, offices, and campus expansions, ensuring maintainability, security, interoperability, capacity, safety coordination, and lifecycle support.
- Maintain policies, inventories, diagrams, procedures, audit evidence, licenses, vendor records, incident reviews, and management dashboards required for governance and continual improvement.

Required Qualifications

- A minimum bachelor's degree in Engineering, a B.Sc. in Computer Science, or a Bachelor of Computer Applications degree is mandatory. The qualification must be awarded by a recognized institution and provide a sound foundation in computing, systems, networks, software, or information technology management.

Required Experience

- Candidates must have 1530 years of progressively responsible information technology experience, including substantial ownership of enterprise infrastructure, service delivery, cybersecurity, business applications, budgets, vendors, projects, and teams. Relevant experience should include complex, high-availability, multi-user environments. Candidates must demonstrate measurable accomplishments in reliability, security, standardization, cost control, incident reduction, modernization, user support, project delivery, and business continuity.
- Experience must include responsibility for service continuity during high-demand academic or administrative cycles and for executive-level decisions during outages, security incidents, and major implementations. Applicants should be prepared to substantiate the operating scale, team scope, budgets governed, systems owned, improvements delivered, and lessons from failed or recovered services. Purely advisory, sales, or project exposure without accountable operational ownership will not satisfy the requirement.

Technical and Functional Skills

- Enterprise network architecture and operations, including LAN, WAN, WLAN, routing, switching, VLANs, VPNs, firewalls, monitoring, capacity, and internet resilience.
- Windows and Linux server administration, directory services, DNS, DHCP, identity and access management, virtualization, storage, high availability, and performance management.
- Cloud and software-as-a-service governance, enterprise productivity platforms, email, collaboration, endpoint management, patching, remote support, and secure configuration standards.
- Higher education or comparable enterprise platforms, including ERP, student information systems, learning management systems, admissions, examinations, finance, HR, library, and reporting solutions.
- Cybersecurity governance,

risk treatment, access reviews, security monitoring, vulnerability management, incident handling, awareness, privacy controls, backup, disaster recovery, and continuity testing.
- IT service management, service desk operations, service-level measurement, asset and license management, vendor governance, budgeting, procurement, project delivery, integrations, documentation, and audits.
- Operational monitoring, capacity planning, observability, logging, configuration standards, automation, root-cause analysis, performance reporting, and continual improvement across the technology estate.
- Technology-enabled campus operations, including computer laboratories, smart classrooms, audiovisual systems, attendance devices, surveillance, access systems, and vendor-supported equipment, with appropriate security and ownership.

Soft Skills and Behavioural Competencies Strategic thinking, calm incident leadership, analytical problem-solving, clear executive communication, stakeholder influence, disciplined prioritization, service orientation, negotiation, coaching, accountability, confidentiality, sound judgment, and the ability to explain technical risk in practical operational terms are essential.

Preferred or Value-Added Qualifications A postgraduate qualification in information technology, management, or a related discipline is preferred. Current certifications in IT service management, project or programme management, cybersecurity, networks, cloud platforms, auditing, or enterprise architecture will strengthen suitability. Experience with digital learning environments, smart classrooms, data integration, institutional audits, and large transformation programmes is advantageous.

Professional Tenure and Background The preferred profile shows a stable, progressive career across recognized, process-driven organizations, with increasing accountability from technical operations to enterprise leadership. Higher education experience is strongly valued; comparable experience in large, distributed, regulated, or service-intensive environments may also demonstrate fit. Career history should evidence ethical conduct, dependable tenure, successful team leadership, and ownership of outcomes rather than advisory exposure alone.

Compensation and Benefits

This is a full time, work-from-office appointment with competitive compensation aligned to experience, capability, and institutional policy. Standard working hours are 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; the incumbent must extend availability when incidents, maintenance, projects, admissions cycles, examinations, or other operational needs require. The role follows a six-day working week.

Sundays and the third Saturday of each month are scheduled holidays, subject to operational requirements and applicable policy. Additional benefits will follow prevailing organizational norms.
