IT Administrator – Systems, Networks & Infrastructure

Location: Mumbai – Work From Office Experience: 2–5 Years

Role Summary

dMACQ is looking for a hands-on IT Administrator – Systems, Networks & Infrastructure to manage and support the organization's IT infrastructure, including end-user systems, networks, physical servers, virtualization platforms, operating systems, web servers, and database environments. The ideal candidate should have practical experience in workstation support, network configuration, physical server deployment, VMware ESXi virtualization, Windows and Linux administration, web-server administration, software patching, and basic database administration support.

This role requires someone who is comfortable troubleshooting infrastructure issues independently and working across hardware, operating systems, networking, virtualization, and application infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Desktop, Laptop & User Support

- Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows desktops, laptops, and workstations.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, operating system, software, printer, peripheral, and connectivity issues.
- Configure user systems, applications, email clients, VPN access, and other business software.
- Manage software installation, upgrades, updates, and patching across user systems.
- Maintain IT asset records for desktops, laptops, servers, network equipment, and peripherals.
- Support employee onboarding and offboarding from an IT infrastructure perspective.

Network Administration

- Configure, manage, and troubleshoot routers, switches, LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, and network connectivity.
- Support configuration of VLANs, IP addressing, DHCP, DNS, routing, and related network services.
- Diagnose network performance, connectivity, and access issues.
- Maintain network diagrams, IP allocation records, and configuration documentation.
- Assist in configuration and management of firewalls, VPNs, and secure remote access.
- Monitor network availability and escalate or resolve infrastructure issues as required.

Physical Server & Infrastructure Management

- Install, configure, and maintain physical servers and associated infrastructure.
- Prepare bare-metal servers for operating system and virtualization deployment.
- Perform server hardware diagnostics, firmware upgrades, storage configuration, and system health checks.
- Configure RAID, storage volumes, and server resources based on infrastructure requirements.
- Maintain server inventory and infrastructure documentation.

Virtualization – VMware ESXi

- Install, configure, and administer VMware ESXi environments.
- Prepare physical servers for virtualization and create and manage Virtual Machines (VMs).
- Allocate CPU, memory, storage, and network resources to virtual machines.
- Manage VM deployment, cloning, snapshots, and basic backup and recovery activities.
- Monitor ESXi hosts and virtual machines for performance, capacity,



and availability.
- Troubleshoot virtualization, storage, and VM connectivity issues.

Windows & Linux Administration

- Install, configure, administer, and troubleshoot Windows Server and Linux operating systems.
- Manage users, groups, permissions, services, file systems, and system access.
- Perform operating system updates, security patching, and package management.
- Monitor CPU, memory, disk utilization, logs, and system performance.
- Troubleshoot operating system, service, application, and connectivity issues.
- Maintain appropriate server configuration and administration documentation.

Web Server Administration

- Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot web-server environments including:

- Apache HTTP Server

- NGINX
- Configure virtual hosts, SSL certificates, ports, redirects, and web-server services.
- Monitor web-server logs, availability, resource utilization, and performance.
- Support application teams in troubleshooting web-server and deployment-related issues.
- Perform software upgrades, patching, and configuration changes as required.

Database Administration Support

- Provide basic administration and infrastructure support for MySQL and related database environments.
- Support database installation, configuration, upgrades, and patching.
- Monitor database service availability and basic resource utilization.
- Assist with database backup, restore, and maintenance activities.
- Support application and development teams in troubleshooting database connectivity and infrastructure-related issues.
- Coordinate with database specialists or development teams for complex database issues.

Patching, Backup & • System Maintenance

- Perform regular operating system, application, web-server, and infrastructure patching.
- Maintain patching schedules and ensure systems remain current and secure.
- Monitor backup jobs and assist with backup and restoration activities.
- Carry out routine preventive maintenance of servers, network equipment, and workstations.
- Maintain appropriate documentation of upgrades, patches, configuration changes, and maintenance activities.

Infrastructure Monitoring & • Troubleshooting

- Monitor servers, network equipment, virtual machines, storage, and critical IT services.
- Identify infrastructure issues proactively and take corrective action.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, network, operating system, and application infrastructure issues.
- Perform root-cause analysis for recurring infrastructure problems.
- Coordinate with OEMs, ISPs, software vendors, and other service providers when required.





IT Security & • Controls

- Follow IT security policies and infrastructure security best practices.
- Manage system access, user permissions, passwords, and administrative privileges.
- Assist with system hardening and implementation of security updates.
- Support antivirus, endpoint protection, firewall, VPN, and other infrastructure security controls.
- Maintain configuration and access records required for IT and security audits.

Documentation & • IT Operations

- Maintain accurate documentation for:

- Servers and virtual machines

- Network configuration

- IP addresses

- Hardware and software inventory

- User systems

- Backup configurations
- System credentials and administrative access

- Standard operating procedures

- Infrastructure changes

- Maintain IT asset and infrastructure records.
- Follow appropriate change-management and incident-management processes.
- Provide periodic infrastructure status and issue reports to management.

Required Qualifications & • Experience

- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronics, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant hands-on experience in IT infrastructure, system administration, or network administration.

- Practical experience in supporting desktops, laptops, servers, and network infrastructure.
- Experience configuring and troubleshooting routers, switches, LAN, Wi-Fi, TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP.
- Hands-on exposure to physical server installation and configuration.

- Experience with VMware ESXi and virtual-machine administration.
- Working knowledge of Windows Server and Linux administration.
- Experience administering or supporting Apache HTTP Server and/or NGINX.

- Basic administration or support experience with MySQL.
- Experience with software installation, upgrades, security patches, and system maintenance.
- Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills

- Knowledge of firewalls, VPNs, VLANs, and network security.
- Understanding of RAID, storage, NAS, SAN, or server storage concepts.

- Exposure to backup and disaster-recovery solutions.
- Familiarity with SSL certificates and web-server security.
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or AWS would be an advantage.

- Basic scripting knowledge using PowerShell, Bash, or Shell scripting would be useful.
- Familiarity with infrastructure monitoring and log-management tools.
- Understanding of IT security and information-security practices.
