IT Administrator (Junior–Mid Level)
We are looking for a hands-on IT Administrator to manage and support the day-to-day IT infrastructure of our organisation.
This is a junior to mid-level position suited to someone who has practical experience with Windows-based IT environments, networking, backups, firewalls and Microsoft 365 and can work with vendors for specialised requirements but be the in house in charge for resolving issues. We are not looking for a highly specialised enterprise IT professional; rather, we want someone technically capable, methodical and willing to take ownership of our IT systems and develop them as the organisation grows.
Key Responsibilities The IT Administrator will be responsible for:
- Maintaining and administering Windows Server environments.
- Managing Hyper-V virtual machines, including creation, configuration, maintenance and basic troubleshooting.
- Managing server and data backup systems, including:
- Configuring and monitoring backup software.
- Maintaining appropriate local and off-site/redundant backups.
- Regularly checking that backups are completing successfully.
- Periodically verifying that data can actually be restored.
- Developing and documenting sensible backup and retention policies.
- Maintaining the company's LAN, Ethernet and Wi-Fi networks.
- Understanding existing network architecture and creating/updating clear network diagrams and documentation.
- Configuring and managing managed Ethernet switches, while understanding networks containing both managed and unmanaged switches.
- Configuring and maintaining Fortinet/FortiGate firewalls, including:
- Firewall policies and rules.
- Internet and internal network configuration.
- VPN and secure remote connectivity.
- Connectivity with partner or remote locations.
- Basic troubleshooting and security configuration.
- Installing and administering NAS/storage devices, including shared folders, user access and permissions.
- Managing Microsoft 365 users and day-to-day administration, including:
- Creating and configuring user accounts.
- Outlook and email setup.
- Multi-factor authentication (MFA).
- User permissions and access.
- Basic SharePoint administration.
- Troubleshooting common Microsoft 365 and Outlook issues.
- Setting up computers, laptops, printers and other network-connected equipment for users.
- Diagnosing and resolving Internet, Ethernet, Wi-Fi and general networking problems.
- Maintaining an accurate inventory and documentation of IT equipment, network devices, software and configurations.
- Coordinating with external IT, Internet, software and hardware vendors where required.
Skills & Experience The ideal candidate should have practical familiarity with most of the following:
- Windows Server administration
- Windows 10/11 environments
- Microsoft Hyper-V
- Backup and recovery software
- Backup strategies and data redundancy
- LAN/WAN and TCP/IP networking fundamentals
- Managed Ethernet switches
- Wi-Fi networks and troubleshooting
- Fortinet/FortiGate firewalls
- VPN and remote-site connectivity
- NAS devices and network storage
- Microsoft 365 administration
- Outlook configuration and troubleshooting
- Multi-factor authentication
- Basic SharePoint administration
- PC hardware and general IT troubleshooting
Experience with every item above is not mandatory. Candidates with a good foundation in Windows systems and networking who are capable of learning and independently troubleshooting current systems are encouraged to apply.
What We Are Looking For
We particularly value someone who:
- Is comfortable being hands-on rather than only coordinating with outside IT vendors.
- Can troubleshoot problems logically and independently.
- Documents configurations and changes instead of relying on memory.
- Takes backup, security and user-access management seriously.
- Can communicate clearly with non-technical employees.
- Is willing to learn unfamiliar hardware and software.
- Can take ownership of routine IT issues and follow them through to resolution.
Experience Level
Approximately 2–5 years of relevant IT support / system administration experience would be suitable, although candidates with less experience but strong practical skills will also be considered.
Qualifications or certifications in Microsoft, networking, Fortinet or related technologies are useful but practical ability and troubleshooting skills are more important than certifications.
Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
Benefits
- Cell phone reimbursement
- Paid sick time
- Paid time off
