Roles and Responsibilities:

We are seeking an Investment Full Stack Developer to join Investment Tech ideally with an institutional investment background and experience building intuitive, interactive frontend applications for investment and quantitative products. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on building production-ready quantitative investment tools, delivered as full stack web applications, with a primary focus on frontend and UI development and the ability to contribute to backend API design and implementation as needed.

Relevant prior experience in the institutional investment landscape for example at an asset manager, investment bank, investment consultancy, actuarial consultancy, or insurance company is highly preferred.

Core Stack:

- Front end: React or a similar up-to-date component-based framework with Context-based state management, Chart.js for visualizations, and TailwindCSS for design
- Backend: FastAPI (or Flask) with REST APIs

Required Qualifications:

- 4+ years of relevant work experience in frontend development, ideally within an institutional investment environment.
- Strong JavaScript/HTML/CSS foundation, with proven experience using modern frameworks (preferably React) to build sophisticated user interfaces.
- Deep understanding of UI/UX considerations for financial and modelling applications; prior experience developing bespoke frontends for quantitative applications is a strong plus.
- Experience designing and consuming REST APIs, with hands-on exposure to FastAPI, Flask, Express, or similar frameworks.
- Comfort handling structured and unstructured data across multiple formats, including JSON, spreadsheets, and flat files (CSV).




- Experience with Git/GitHub and standard software development practices, including integration testing, end-to-end testing, and user acceptance testing.
- Practical understanding of CI/CD and basic DevOps concepts.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work independently.
- CFA or Actuarial qualification is a plus.

- Comfort working across the stack — contributing to backend API design and implementation with FastAPI or Flask when needed, while maintaining a primary focus on frontend delivery.

Stakeholder Translation

- Ability to work directly with business stakeholders to translate requirements into design specs, wireframes, and proof-of-concepts, iterating rapidly to reach agreed final specifications.

Engineering Rigor

- Strong software engineering practices applied consistently — delivering solutions that are scalable, maintainable, well-tested, properly validated, and aligned with SDLC best practices and Marsh coding standards.

Data Fluency

- Confidence handling structured and unstructured data across formats such as JSON, spreadsheets,



and CSV files in service of investment and quantitative tools.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

- Work closely with senior developers in the International Tools Team to contribute to the design, development, and ongoing enhancement of user-facing quantitative investment tools, with a primary focus on UI design and development.
- Work with business stakeholders as needed to translate requirements into design specs and wireframes/proof-of-concepts, rapidly iterating to agree final specifications.
- Contribute to technical design discussions and support the ongoing development and enhancement of team engineering standards.
- Apply strong software engineering and development practices to deliver solutions that are scalable, maintainable, well-tested, properly validated, and aligned with SDLC best practices and Marsh coding standards.

Nice to Have:

- Database experience with cloud-based SQL databases, including schema design, querying, and ORMs.
- Experience with financial data providers such as Bloomberg or Refinitiv.
- Experience with cloud hosting platforms such as AWS or Azure.
- Exposure to containerization, observability, or production support in a web application environment.

Stakeholder Interaction:

- Collaborate closely with senior developers within the International Tools Team on the design, architecture, and ongoing enhancement of quantitative investment tools.
- Partner directly with business stakeholders to gather requirements and rapidly iterate through wireframes and proofs-of-concept toward agreed final specifications
- Contribute to technical design discussions and engineering standards conversations across the wider team.
