Role Description The Industrial Designer will contribute to the design and development of consumer hardware products, supporting projects from concept through detailed engineering. In this part-time remote role, the designer will translate product requirements into functional, manufacturable designs, create 3D CAD models and visualizations, and collaborate on mechanism layouts and plastic enclosure solutions. Day-to-day work includes generating and refining design concepts,



preparing design documentation, and supporting prototyping efforts in coordination with engineering and manufacturing partners.

The role also involves applying design thinking to resolve usability and assembly challenges, iterating based on feedback, and ensuring that designs align with DFM, DFA, cost, and reliability targets.

Qualifications

- Candidates should possess skills in Industrial Design and Product Design focused on hardware and consumer products.
- Candidates should possess skills in Product Development and Prototyping for translating concepts into testable, manufacturable designs.
- Candidates should possess skills in Design Thinking for user-centered problem-solving and structured design decision-making.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks) and rendering software (e.g., KeyShot) is highly beneficial.
- Understanding of DFM, DFA, materials (especially plastics), and basic mechanical engineering principles is preferred.
- Experience collaborating with vendors or manufacturing partners and working within cost and reliability constraints is an advantage.
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting, manage part time project workload, and communicate clearly with global clients.
