Role Purpose:

To ensure excellence in patient care by being directly accountable for ward management through supervision of staff, to ensure smooth functioning of the ward during the shift, offering guidance and support, maintaining a clean and safe working environment, and ensuring that all operational tasks are completed efficiently and on time.

Key responsibilities of Ward In-charge:

- To maintain the prepared standard protocol of asepsis strictly.
- To maintain the hand washing protocol and dress protocol as prescribed.
- To properly autoclave and disinfect necessary articles, instruments, linen, gadgets, equipment, etc., and keep them ready for use.
- To check all electrical points, pipeline, and in-built suckers for proper working condition.
- To communicate with the concerned person for proper maintenance of the unit.
- To carry out the instructions of the sister-in-charge as allocated by her.
- To prepare drugs, crash trolley, etc., properly.
- To check oxygen, carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide, etc. Checklist should be filled properly.
- To check the monitor, ventilator, and all life-saving gadgets for proper working condition .if not give call to Maintenance department
- To provide special care to the patient guided by the Medical Officer, e.g. endotracheal suction.
- To fogging and terminal cleaning of the department periodically.
- To keep records of all the patient procedures of the patient neatly.
- Duties often include changing center line, folye’s cath, feeding tubes, using monitoring devices, administering medication, and performing intubations and all invisible lines.
- She provides special care for skin,back care every shift and change diapers when ever soil.
- In cases where parents can't be present all the time, she may be the person who sits with the baby and provides him or her with emotional, physical, and social interaction.




- When working with patients, she'll also interact with their families.
- She may educate parents or relatives on the baby's condition and provide instructions for care once the baby leaves the hospital.
- She cares for infants transitioning to extra-uterine life
- and provides age and culturally appropriate care to patients.
- She consults and coordinates with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
- She provides nutritional assessment and specialized feedings.
- Changes dressings, changes dressings, starts IVs.
- Provides arterial and intravenous therapy.
- Monitors and adjusts specialized equipment used on patients, such as ventilators.
- Prepares and administers, and records prescribed medications. Reports adverse reactions to medications or treatments.
- She monitors vital signs and initiates corrective action whenever the patient displays adverse symptomatically, communicates the patient’s condition to the care team.
- Assists treating physician during examination, treatment, and procedures, which can include life-saving situations.
- Instructs and educates the patient’s family.
- Participates in discharge planning.
- Record all care information concisely, accurately, and completely in a timely manner, using the appropriate format and on theappropriate forms.
- Performs other position-related duties as assigned, depending on the assignment setting.

· Education:

- BSc or Diploma (GNM),ppbbsc in Nursing from an accredited university / institute
- Proven work with a nursing supervisor.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in the critical care department
- A valid nursing license.
