The company specializes in offshore positioning and survey support, marine geophysical surveys, hydrographic surveys, pre- and post-installation survey services, and oceanographic studies. With a full-fledged operating office in Navi Mumbai, GEOSTAR employs over 35 professionals including surveyors, engineers, geophysicists, and processing staff, supported by workshop and charting facilities.

The organization is structured to plan, execute, and control projects effectively while maintaining strict adherence to client specifications and statutory requirements. Quality assurance is integrated from project inception through final delivery to ensure reliable, accurate survey outputs for industrial needs.

Role Description The Hydrographic Survey Engineer / Multibeam Operator - I is a full-time, on-site role based in Navi Mumbai. The role involves planning and executing hydrographic and offshore survey operations, including multibeam echosounder data acquisition, calibration, and quality control. The engineer will operate and monitor survey equipment and positioning systems, coordinate with vessel crews and project teams, and ensure safe, efficient survey workflows.

Daily responsibilities include data logging, preliminary processing and validation of bathymetric and positioning data, preparation of survey reports and charts, and contribution to pre-survey checks and post-survey documentation. The role also includes participation in equipment maintenance, adherence to health, safety,



and environmental procedures, and support for junior team members during field assignments.

Key Responsibilities

1. Execute hydrographic and bathymetric surveys using MBES and other hydrographic equipment.
2. Operate and monitor Multibeam Echosounder (MBES) systems during offshore surveys.
3. Perform vessel positioning, navigation and survey-line execution.
4. Handle HYPACK / hydrographic navigation and acquisition software.
5. Conduct basic MBES data quality checks and processing.
6. Assist with SVP/CTD acquisition, sound velocity corrections and patch-test activities.
7. Maintain daily survey logs, equipment records and field documentation.
8. Coordinate with the Chief Surveyor, Survey Engineer and offshore project team.
9. Ensure survey activities are carried out safely and in accordance with project specifications.

Preferred Technical Skills
1. Knowledge of MBES, SBES, Side Scan Sonar, SBP, DGPS/RTK and SVP.
2. Working knowledge of HYPACK is preferred.
3. Basic understanding of patch testing, calibration, tide/vertical datum and positioning.
4. Ability to troubleshoot basic survey equipment and acquisition issues.
5. Offshore survey experience will be an advantage.

Qualification & Experience
1. Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Civil, Geomatics, Surveying, Geophysics, Marine Engineering or a related field.
2. 1–3 years of relevant hydrographic/offshore survey experience preferred.
3. Freshers with strong practical knowledge of hydrographic surveying may also be considered.
