ABOUT THE ROLE

Take complete ownership of horticulture, gardening and agricultural activities across Nikis Nirvana, a nature-focused hospitality property near Bhor, Pune. The property includes landscaped gardens, trees, fruit-bearing plants, ornamental plants, vegetable/agricultural areas, water bodies and other outdoor green spaces.

This is a hands-on managerial and supervisory position with gardeners, farm workers and helpers reporting to you. You will regularly walk through and inspect the entire property, plan work independently and ensure its greenery and agricultural areas remain healthy, productive and visually attractive.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Care for and maintain all plants, trees, shrubs, lawns, flowers and landscaped areas, including fruit-bearing trees and plants.
- Manage vegetable cultivation and agricultural areas, including planting, crop care and harvesting; manage orchards and nursery work where applicable.
- Inspect the entire property regularly to identify plant diseases, pest attacks, fungal problems,



nutrient deficiencies and other plant-health issues. Decide appropriate corrective treatments and supervise their implementation.
- Manage plant nutrition and soil health, including fertilizers, manure, mulching and soil improvement. Ensure the correct and safe use of pesticides, insecticides, fungicides and other plant treatments.
- Plan irrigation and watering according to plant type, season and weather; monitor irrigation systems and ensure appropriate water supply.
- Plan and supervise plantation, replantation, seasonal planting, pruning, trimming, shaping and weed management. Identify and replace unhealthy or dead plants.
- Monitor fruit development and decide the right time for harvesting/removal; supervise fruit picking and careful handling.
- Plan daily, weekly and seasonal horticulture work. Allocate tasks to gardeners, farm workers and helpers, supervise execution, and monitor productivity and quality.
- Train and guide workers in proper gardening, horticulture and agricultural practices.
- Maintain horticulture tools and equipment. Monitor stocks of fertilizers, pesticides, fungicides, manure and gardening supplies, and inform management of purchase requirements in advance.
- Keep basic records of treatments, fertilizer/pesticide applications, plantation,



important plant-health issues and harvesting. Report significant issues and requirements to management.
- Suggest suitable plant varieties, planting ideas, landscape improvements and better horticultural practices.

PREFERRED CANDIDATE PROFILE
- Approximately 3 to 8 years of relevant hands-on experience in horticulture, large gardens, resorts, landscaped properties, farms, orchards, nurseries, estates or similar settings.
- Strong practical knowledge of plants, trees, fruit trees, vegetables, irrigation, fertilizers and plant treatments.
- Ability to independently recognise common diseases, pests and nutrient deficiencies and recommend corrective action.
- Experience supervising gardeners, farm workers or helpers, with the ability to plan work, communicate clearly and take responsibility for the whole horticulture operation.
- Willingness to work actively around the property and undertake regular in office inspections.
- Marathi is highly desirable for managing the local workforce. Hindi is helpful. Basic English is sufficient; fluent English is not essential.
- Willingness to work full-time on-site at Nikis Nirvana, Pasure, Bhor, Pune.

Experience limited to agriculture-product, pesticide or fertilizer sales, or desk-based advisory work alone, does not meet the practical requirements of this role.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

B.Sc. Horticulture, B.Sc. Agriculture, Diploma in Horticulture, Diploma in Agriculture, or another relevant horticulture/agriculture qualification is preferred. A degree is not mandatory: candidates with strong practical horticulture and farm-management experience are welcome to apply.
