About the Role

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Histopathology Technician to support the histopathology laboratory by processing tissue specimens and preparing high-quality slides for microscopic examination by pathologists.

The candidate should have hands-on experience in tissue processing, paraffin embedding, microtomy, H&E; staining, special stains and basic IHC procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Tissue Processing

- Receive, identify and properly label tissue specimens.
- Perform fixation and tissue processing according to laboratory SOPs.
- Handle biopsy, surgical and other tissue specimens carefully.
- Ensure proper specimen identification and documentation throughout the process.

Embedding & Sectioning
- Perform paraffin embedding of processed tissue.
- Operate and maintain microtome for section cutting.
- Prepare high-quality tissue sections and mount them on glass slides.
- Maintain proper section thickness and slide quality.
- Handle tissue blocks and slides appropriately.

Staining
- Perform routine H&E; staining.
- Perform special stains as per laboratory requirements.
- Assist with Immunohistochemistry (IHC) procedures where applicable.
- Prepare and maintain staining reagents and solutions.
- Monitor staining quality and report any abnormalities.

Laboratory Operations
- Maintain histopathology equipment and work areas.
- Monitor reagents, consumables and inventory.
- Follow laboratory SOPs and quality-control procedures.
- Maintain proper records, registers and documentation.
- Assist in troubleshooting technical issues.




- Ensure proper storage and retrieval of tissue blocks and slides.

Quality & Safety
- Follow laboratory quality and biosafety procedures.
- Maintain accurate specimen tracking.
- Minimize tissue processing, labeling and staining errors.
- Follow biomedical waste management procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the histopathology section.

Required Qualification Candidates with any of the following may be considered:
- B.Sc. MLT / B.Sc. Medical Laboratory Technology
- B.Sc. Medical Lab Science
- DMLT with relevant histopathology experience
- Other relevant laboratory qualifications with practical histopathology experience

Preferred Experience Preference will be given to candidates who have worked in:
- Diagnostic laboratories
- Hospitals
- Pathology laboratories
- Cancer/oncology hospitals
- Histopathology reference laboratories

Experience with IHC, automated tissue processors, automated staining systems and advanced histopathology techniques will be an advantage.
