Role Overview

Skybook is looking for an experienced Head – Web & SEO to lead our website development and SEO department.

The person will be responsible for driving the Web & SEO team, ensuring timely and quality project delivery, coordinating directly with customers, supporting the sales team during pre-sales discussions, and continuously improving the department’s processes, capabilities, and performance.

This is a leadership role requiring a strong combination of technical understanding, team management, client communication, project ownership, and commercial awareness.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and manage the complete Web Development and SEO team.
- Plan, allocate, monitor, and review projects and tasks across the department.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time and according to agreed scope and quality standards.
- Conduct regular project reviews with team members and identify delivery risks in advance.
- Act as the primary escalation point for Web & SEO projects.
- Coordinate directly with customers for requirement gathering, project discussions, progress updates, reviews, and issue resolution.
- Translate customer business requirements into clear tasks and deliverables for the internal team.
- Manage customer expectations regarding scope, timelines, deliverables, and dependencies.
- Participate in customer meetings whenever technical or strategic Web/SEO expertise is required.
- Support the Sales and Business Development teams during the pre-sales process.
- Understand prospective customer requirements and recommend suitable website, e-commerce, SEO, and digital solutions.
- Participate in discovery calls and technical discussions with prospects.
- Help prepare scope of work, effort estimates, timelines, technical recommendations, and proposal inputs.
- Identify upselling and cross-selling opportunities from existing customers.

Web Development Leadership

- Oversee website projects involving platforms and technologies such as:
- WordPress
- WooCommerce
- Shopify
- HTML/CSS websites
- Custom web applications where applicable
- Review website architecture, functionality, responsiveness, performance, security,



and overall quality.
- Ensure proper QA processes before websites are presented to customers or moved to production.
- Ensure website projects follow SEO-friendly development practices.

SEO Leadership

- Guide the SEO team in developing and executing SEO strategies for customer projects.
- Oversee:
- Technical SEO
- On-page SEO
- Keyword research
- Content optimisation
- Off-page SEO
- Local SEO
- Google Business Profile optimisation
- Website audits
- Search Console and Analytics monitoring
- Review SEO performance reports and ensure the team provides meaningful recommendations instead of only reporting metrics.
- Ensure SEO strategies are aligned with customer business objectives, leads, traffic, and conversions.

Team Management

- Set clear responsibilities, KPIs, and performance expectations for team members.
- Conduct regular team meetings and project reviews.
- Mentor team members and identify training requirements.
- Improve productivity, accountability, and collaboration within the department.
- Coordinate with other departments such as Design, Content, Digital Marketing, Sales, and Account Management.
- Support recruitment and onboarding of Web & SEO team members when required.

Process & Quality Management

- Establish and improve SOPs, checklists, QA standards, reporting formats, and project workflows.
- Ensure documentation is maintained for customer projects.
- Monitor department workload, utilisation, project profitability, and delivery efficiency.
- Introduce appropriate tools, automation, and AI solutions to improve productivity.
- Stay updated with changes in Google Search, SEO practices, website technologies, WordPress, Shopify, performance optimisation, and related digital trends.

Required Experience & Skills

- Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience in Web Development, SEO, or Digital Agency environments.




- Prior experience in a Team Lead / Department Head / Project Management role preferred.
- Strong understanding of WordPress and website development processes.
- Working knowledge of Shopify and e-commerce websites.
- Strong understanding of technical SEO and overall SEO strategy.
- Ability to audit websites and identify technical, UX, SEO, and performance issues.
- Good understanding of Google Search Console, Google Analytics and SEO tools.
- Excellent customer communication and presentation skills.
- Experience participating in client meetings and requirement discussions.
- Ability to convert business requirements into technical/project requirements.
- Strong project management and team management capabilities.
- Good commercial understanding for estimation, proposals, scope management, and pre-sales.

Preferred Qualities

- Agency experience managing multiple customer projects simultaneously.
- Strong ownership mentality with the ability to independently drive a department.
- Comfortable dealing with international customers.
- Good problem-solving and decision-making ability.
- Ability to balance technical quality, customer expectations, timelines, and commercial considerations.
- Interest in using AI and automation to improve Web and SEO operations.

Role Objective The objective of this role is to build a high-performing Web & SEO department that delivers quality projects, maintains strong customer relationships, supports Skybook’s sales growth, and continuously improves its technical and operational capabilities.

Pay: From ₹18,000.00 per month
