Head of Engineering

Role:

Own architecture, technical delivery and production readiness across Integra’s industrial arms, underwater manipulators, mobile platforms and intervention robots. Lead mechanical, embedded, controls and software engineering.

Previous experience:

5+ years in robotics, industrial automation or mechatronic product engineering, including 2+ years leading multidisciplinary teams and delivering commercial robotic systems.

Qualification:

B.E./B.Tech or M.Tech in Robotics, Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Computer Science or a related discipline.

Work arrangement:

Full time, work from the office; production and client site support with travel as required.

Scope of responsibilities:

- Define shared modules, interfaces, and performance budgets across mechanics, actuators, electronics, perception, and controls; resolve payload, stiffness, thermal, latency, and cost trade-offs.
- Translate customer requirements into specifications, engineering budgets, resourcing and delivery milestones. Own design reviews, integration plans and factory/site acceptance criteria.
- Approve releases against simulation, bench, endurance and field evidence. Verify local motion limits, interlocks and safe behaviour under faults or network loss; drive failure analysis.
- Lead teleoperation and automation integration, separate autonomous and operator demonstration data capture, and the move to supervised autonomy through policy validation and controlled deployment.
- Own production transfer, BOM/configuration control, supplier technical quality and assembly/calibration procedures.



Track first pass yield, field reliability, unit cost and lead time.
- Hire and mentor engineering leads, resolve technical bottlenecks and enforce review discipline. Track task success, cycle time and interventions per operating hour against release criteria.

Software and technical experience:

Engineering review capability:

Fusion 360 for mechanical design, drawings and simulation; ROS 2/ros2_control, C++/Python and PLC workflows; Gazebo or MuJoCo; Git, automated tests and requirements/revision tracking.

Must have qualifications:

- Led multidisciplinary teams delivering robotic products from architecture and prototype through factory tests, site acceptance and repeat production.
- Can defend mechanical, electrical and control tradeoffs using calculations, measured performance, failure analysis and safety validation.
- Proven ownership of engineering hiring, delivery plans, budgets and quality, with evidence of improved reliability, cost or deployment time.

Preferred qualifications:

- Scaled a modular robot platform across multiple payloads, end effectors or industrial applications.
- Experience with underwater or tracked robots, hazardous environments and robot or functional safety validation.
- Led teleoperation, robot learning data capture or supervised autonomy programmes with validated policies and deployment rollback.

Required evidence of experience: Provide two commercial deployment examples with your architecture decisions, team scope, acceptance results and quantified cost, reliability or delivery improvements.
