Role Context
- Regal Kitchen Foods Limited is an export-focused food company serving private-label and own-brand business across international markets.
- The business serves B2B retail chains as well as e-commerce/online channels, with active operations in the USA and Canada and a recently started UK e-commerce business.
- The role must manage the complete logistics chain - from factory dispatch in India to international freight, destination warehousing, B2B delivery, e-commerce fulfilment and final-mile delivery to the end customer.
Role Purpose
- Build and lead a truly end-to-end global logistics and fulfilment function rather than a traditional export-shipping team.
- Own service levels and cost from India origin through destination customs/port handling, overseas 3PL warehousing, retail replenishment, e-commerce order fulfilment, parcel shipping and returns.
- Continuously reduce landed logistics cost per case/order while improving delivery speed, inventory availability and customer experience.
Key Responsibilities 1. India Export & International Freight
- Lead container planning, FCL/LCL, ocean and air freight strategy from India to the USA, Canada, UK and other markets.
- Own carrier/forwarder selection, rate negotiation, routing, booking, sailing schedules and freight contracts.
- Control export documentation, customs/CHA coordination, port movement, cut-offs,detention/demurrage exposure and shipment exceptions.
- Optimise container utilisation, mode selection, consolidation and packaging configuration to reduce freight cost per unit.
2. Destination Logistics, Customs & 3PL Warehousing
- Manage the destination-side flow after vessel/air arrival: customs clearance coordination, port drayage, appointment scheduling, warehouse receiving and inventory put-away.
- Evaluate and manage 3PL warehouses in the USA, Canada and UK, including storage, inbound, pick/pack, pallet handling, value-added services and outbound rate cards.
- Build detailed 3PL cost calculators covering receiving, storage, pick-and-pack, carton/pallet handling, packaging materials, labelling, account fees, minimums, outbound shipping, returns and all accessorial charges.
- Validate 3PL quotations against actual order profiles and expected volumes, identify hidden or variable charges and recommend the lowest total-cost provider without compromising service levels.
- Design the right warehouse network based on customer concentration, delivery zones, transit time and inventory carrying cost.
- Control warehouse KPIs, ageing inventory, damage, claims, reconciliation, inventory accuracy and service-level adherence.
3. B2B Retail Chain Fulfilment
- Manage delivery to major retail/distribution networks, including routing guides, appointment deliveries, pallet/carton standards, ASN/EDI coordination where applicable and proof of delivery.
- Track OTIF/fill-rate performance and reduce retailer chargebacks, delivery failures, re-delivery cost and compliance penalties.
- Plan replenishment from overseas warehouses to retail customers while balancing service level and working capital.
4. E-Commerce Fulfilment & Marketplace Logistics
- Own end-to-end fulfilment for online channels such as Walmart, Temu and other marketplaces/direct e-commerce platforms.
- Understand marketplace order flow, fulfilment SLAs, pick-pack-ship operations, label requirements, parcel handover, tracking, failed deliveries and returns.
- Work with OMS/WMS/TMS/ERP and marketplace portals to create accurate order-to-delivery visibility.
- Design scalable fulfilment processes for peak periods, promotions and rapid-growing order volumes.
- Calculate marketplace logistics costs by SKU, order size, fulfilment method and geography, including marketplace fulfilment fees, inbound placement or transfer costs, storage, removal/return fees, parcel shipping and penalties.
- Compare marketplace-managed fulfilment, seller fulfilment through a 3PL and direct shipping to determine the most profitable fulfilment route for each SKU and channel.
5. Last-Mile Delivery & Parcel Cost Optimisation
- Have hands-on knowledge of parcel/last-mile carrier models, including national carriers, regional carriers and 3PL parcel solutions in the USA; equivalent market knowledge in Canada/UK is preferred.
- Understand zone-based parcel pricing, DIM/volumetric weight, residential/remote-area charges, fuel/peak surcharges, minimum charges and other accessorials.
- Use zone skipping, parcel consolidation, multi-node fulfilment, carrier allocation and service-level selection to reduce cost per order.
- Benchmark courier/parcel contracts and audit carrier invoices to identify overcharges and savings opportunities.
- Continuously source and negotiate lower-cost local freight, drayage, LTL/FTL, regional parcel and last-mile delivery partners in destination markets, using lane-level and zone-level comparisons rather than headline rates alone.
- Build an efficient reverse-logistics/returns process with clear disposition rules and cost controls.
6. Cost, Network & Process Optimisation
- Create a total logistics cost model from factory gate to customer doorstep: origin freight, ocean/air, customs, drayage, warehouse, pick/pack, B2B delivery, parcel delivery and returns.
- Track cost per container, case, pallet, order and delivered unit by market/channel/customer.
- Identify savings through contract negotiation, network redesign, shipment consolidation, packaging optimisation, warehouse location, carrier mix and better inventory positioning.
- Prepare annual logistics budgets and monthly variance/savings dashboards.
- Own pre-payment verification of freight, 3PL, warehouse, marketplace logistics and last-mile invoices by matching billed charges against contracts, rate cards, shipment data, weights/dimensions, zones, service levels and proof of delivery.
- Create a documented invoice-approval workflow with exception flags, supporting calculations,
dispute recovery and Finance sign-off; no logistics invoice should be released for payment without operational validation.
7. Team Leadership & Controls
- Lead and upgrade the existing shipping/logistics team from an export-documentation mindset to an end-to-end international fulfilment capability.
- Create SOPs, escalation matrices, shipment trackers, warehouse controls and performance dashboards.
- Train the team on destination logistics, e-commerce fulfilment, last-mile economics and cost optimisation.
- Work closely with Sales, Finance, Production, Planning, Customer Service, IT/ERP and overseas partners.
Candidate Profile - Must Have
- 10+ years of logistics/supply-chain experience, with meaningful leadership responsibility.
- Strong hands-on experience in international logistics from India to overseas markets; USA experience is
mandatory. Canada and/or UK exposure is strongly preferred.
- Direct experience with overseas 3PL warehousing and e-commerce/parcel fulfilment - not only export
shipping or freight forwarding.
- Practical knowledge of last-mile pricing, delivery zones, parcel carrier rate cards, DIM weight and cost-
per-order optimisation.
- Experience serving B2B retail chains, e-commerce marketplaces or omnichannel consumer businesses.
- Strong negotiation capability with shipping lines, forwarders, 3PLs, warehouses, drayage providers and
parcel carriers.
- Comfort with logistics data, cost models, Excel/BI reporting and ERP/WMS/TMS/OMS systems.
- Demonstrated ability to build SKU-, order-, lane- and provider-level cost calculators for 3PL, marketplace
fulfilment, local freight and last-mile delivery.
- Hands-on experience auditing logistics invoices before payment, reconciling billed charges to agreed rate
cards and recovering overbilling.
- Ability to build processes and teams while remaining hands-on in day-to-day problem solving.
Preferred Background
- FMCG, food, consumer products, retail, D2C/e-commerce, private label or high-volume import/export
business.
- Experience managing both pallet/carton B2B shipments and single-order parcel fulfilment.
- Exposure to food/FMCG cross-border compliance and coordination with customs/compliance teams.
- Bachelor degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations, International Trade or equivalent; relevant
professional certification is an advantage.
